What price a Gold Logie?
In the case of Rowena Wallace, it’s north of $15,000.
Hawking her trophy on eBay, she notes, “This treasured trophy was won by Rowena Wallace in 1984 for “Most Popular Australian Personality” for her portrayal of Patricia Palmer AKA Pat The Rat in the immensely popular soap Sons & Daughters.
“Due to fiscal circumstances this treasured possession needs to find a good new home.”
Wallace told A Current Affair she was moving from Wonthaggi in Victoria to Queensland, and that she no longer needed the trophy to remember the accolade of her achievements on Aussie telly.
You can make a bid here.
It’s lucky it wasn’t an Oscar, given the rules prohibit winners from cashing them in.
Meanwhile a SilverLogie was spotted on the floor as a doorstop near the dog.
“Don’t let him pee on it!” she said.
Seriously….

Ah, that explains it!
Poor Rowena, it’s gone down to $2,000, they must have been fake bids 🙁
Legal problems. It is no longer for sale.
$16,600 at the moment with 45 bids.Paul Henry is rumoured to be one of the anonymous bidders,he’s looking for the headline “Local boy makes good” on his return to the land of the long white cloud…
i dont think she’d be getting paid much for Micro Nation, plus if shes still paying off her debt to Centrelink there won’t be much change. Its hers to do as she likes with, i would if i were in her position & as she says, she still has the memories.
It’s a shame that Rowena doesn’t have a reputation for being more reliable. She is a great actress, and she has characters on both Neighbours and Home and Away that could be revived easily enough.
I guess it’s like most ACA (and TT) stories – recycle, recycle, recycle.
She would have made a few quid in her time, I guess like so many thespians, not much went towards the future. I suspect there are many actors in the same position – it’s a very precarious living.
No offense to her, but i’m sick of seeing her on ACA
Aw, thats pretty sad.
She only just appeared in “Micro Nation.” She’s busier than me!
I wonder if she got paid to go on ACA? I think its a shame to sell it and that you shouldn’t be able to. If you don’t want it maybe it should go back to Seven and displayed somewhere if there is no relative to pass it on to.
that time of year again, i swear we have heard this story more than once before.
Wasn’t she scamming Centrelink at one point?
It’s sad she has been pushed to do this. If I could afford it, I’d give her the cash and let her keep it.

She’ll be lucky to get $1500 for it.
But current “stars” of TV take note.
She should of sold it a few years ago because since Karl won his the value of a Logie has gone down.
How many times has this woman cried poor on ACA/Today Tonight? It’s around 4 or 5 at last count.
I guess she is back in debt. She was homeless for a bit there to. She is a lovely lady and a talented actress.
Very very very sad.Rowena is still a great actor, what is her agent doing? She could get that much for one good commercial.,Shame she doesnt get more residuals for the amount of hours “Sons and Daughters” seems to be on TV at the moment, something like 5 days a week on 7TWO and about 3 times a week after midnight on 7. One wonders how well it rates, now that would be an interesting figure.
I happened to see the interview last night. It was so obvious that the Logies used as door stops we put there for the show and the fake hysterical laughter of the reporter made it more obvious.
Either way I think she needs to get support from somewhere, as this is not the first time she has cried poverty on TV.
Meh, good luck to her. If I was at where she is right now I’d probably do the same thing.
15 grand though? Is that the iconic value or is it actually real gold? 🙂
