Three cast members to exit Neighbours

Actors Ben Barber, Jordan Smith and Kaiya Jones will all exit Neighbours.

Actors Ben Barber (Rhys Lawson), Jordan Smith (Andrew Robinson) and Kaiya Jones (Sophie Ramsay) will exit Neighbours.

The news was reported by TV Week and confirmed on Neighbours official Twitter feed.

Jones joined as Sophie in 2009, while Smith (pictured) took over the role of Andrew later that year. Barber was cast as Rhys in May 2011.

All three will depart screens in 2013.

Neighbours recently announced some returning cast members, and a new family to arrive. But as is common in soapie land, budgets are tight and new additions often means change elsewhere.

Next week is the 2012 cliffhanger, with lives to be left hanging in the balance.

  1. John Jackson- However the ratings have not been consistent for a number of years now.
2010- Were the lowest ever ratings for Neighbours
2011- The ratings took a big hit on channel Eleven

  2. Sophie is boring now. Andrew will be no great loss & Rhys needs to lighting up.
Neighbours will be better without these actors & Carla Boner coming back i’ll enjoy 2013

  3. I think they need to change the script writers.. Neighbours I think is really struggling, the ratings have been quite poor a while now, Home and Away is so much better- much fresher and better storylines and characters. Producers need to really sit down and re-boot Neighbours to where it was years ago- nothing interests me in Neighbours at all. I watch H&A.

  4. If Madeleine West came back to play Dee, even I’d start watching again! Would love to see how Dee’s fall off the cliff into the ocean, presumed dead, would be explained.. maybe she too ended up in Tasmania with amnesia ala Harold..!

  5. I haven’t watched Neighbours for about 18 months but with all these changes taken place. I just might start watching again in 2013!

Now if only they would bring back Dee (Madeleine West)!

  6. Andrew and (especially) Sophie will be no great loss, but it’s a shame the writers couldn’t delve deeper into the Rhys character and give him some meatier storylines.

It’s funny how all of the young characters all leave in a group… First the character of Summer goes, then Tash, now Andrew… looks like Chris is around to stay though which is great.
