2013-01-21_0128How I Met Your Mother returns to Seven next week at the new time of 9pm Mondays from January 28th.

However as it follows a 90 minute premiere of My Kitchen Rules, don’t be surprised if it moves to 9:30pm soon -after all Revenge is also returning soon.

This will be Season 8 for the long-running sitcom.

  1. The premise of HIMYM is the stupidest thing ever. A guy tells his young children how he slept his way across NY, including with many people the kids know, before he met their mother.

While the writers make stuff up as they go along and drag it out for 9 years. And then at the end they will introduce some woman who is the mother. But what will that mean. She will just appear and have no connection to anything that happened in 200 episodes of the characters lives we will have seen.

It is just a sitcom with some good characters and actors. The gimmick is irrelevant.

  2. Alvar, the won’t put HIMYM on a seconday channel in prime time because it would pinch young viewers from Channel 7.

Seven puts stuff targeted at older women and men, which won’t compete that much with what is on 7. They do this the best of the networks and have the most viewers. They they have lost younger viewers to 9.

So 7 end up with a lot of stuff like 30R, Suits, Happy Endings and HIMYM that gets screened late at night.

  3. The writers began writing this season as though it would be the last and requested a decision be made on the show’s future in order to allow enough time for a proper finale. The cast reportedly signed on for a ninth season on December, and an “official” renewal is expected from CBS.

I gave up trying to keep track of this on Seven years ago and now watch by “other means.” The show is extremely popular, but Seven’s treatment of it is beyond a joke. I don’t trust that it will be played out consistently, and airing behind MKR and Revenge means it will probably start extremely late.

I don’t understand why they won’t air it on 7mate in a decent timeslot and fasttracked if there is no place for it on the main channel.

They are locking themselves in pretty hard. From what I gather if this is the last season or not is still up in the air until about a month ago. So I think we find out at the end of this season as they were locking themselves into it.

Apparently the issue is, they never intended it to go on this long, but the show has grown in popularity as it’s gone on. So I think we kind of get the end, and the next season which is the last, is like an epilogue.

  5. Finally still enjoy the show and starting to now feel like it wont be long before the mother is revealed. While I agree with you David about the time changing I hope it stays on and doesn’t get taken off moved around to much like it has.
