At least we won’t have to see this anymore…

Last night Jenna was finally voted out of the show. What a relief!

I get that Reality TV can be stressful, but seriously, the constant basset-hound face always about to burst into tears was like a nightly replay.

Teammate Joanna deserves a medal for holding up this team.

  1. To say Jenna is temperamentally unsuited to the stress of cooking as a career is an understatement. Clearly, the woman cannot cook, or at least she cannot cook out of her own environment. Her Chris Bath doppelganger team-mate deserves all the glory, and a medal for going above and beyond the call.

  2. “constant basset-hound face” – LOL!
What a great selection of pics (maybe a little bit mean – I hope she doesn’t actually have some deeper issues.)

I don’t watch the show (I did a few years ago, before the alchemists at Ch7 started over-egging and milking the premise, thus turning reality into soap) but this article is hilarious.
I miss the old days when you mostly bagged TV David, you’re so good at it!

  3. All these comebacks are just dragging the show on and on. I doubt too many will care who wins in the end, and if we ever hear of them again. Who can remember who won the last series. No idea!

  4. MCP, The Block and MKR all started around the same time – yet MKR is still dragging on!

And once the final 4 teams are determined tonight – there will be another ‘surprise twist’ where yet another team will gatecrash/come back!

They have dragged this so called ‘cooking’ show way way way too long.

I didn’t care for Jenna – but even the most mentally strong person would have had difficulty with the pressure. I hope she – and all contestants get some counselling before and after the show

There have been instances where reality TV contestants (around the world) have had serious mental health problems and the producers owe these people – and their families – a duty of care.

BTW – why did Seven keep showing promos of ‘Will Ashley and Sophia be eliminated’ all throughout last nights episode?
Wouldn’t it have made more sense to just show it at the end of the episode?
I’m betting they are trying to suck viewers in to see if they get eliminated like they did with the two Indian girls earlier this year.
And I’m guessing they last another day – cos they wouldn’t want to kill the golden goose….not just yet anyway.

  5. Totally agree Rach. I said to my husband last night “I wonder if Ashlee & Sophia are actors?” He replied “If they are they’re very bad ones.” LOL Babes. I had put a ban on watching this as I’ve had enough & don’t want 7 to get the ratings, but hubby can’t stop watching it. He flicks between The Voice & MKR. I do feel for Joanna who is an awesome cook & was held back at times by Jenna, but did warm to Lil Miss Cupcake towards the end. I think she’s too much of a perfectionist & fusses over things too much..

  6. I assumed she had a disability. I don’t mean that horribly, I assumed an emotional disability. I personally felt that her exposing herself to the ridiculous stress of the competition wasn’t a particularly good executive decision on her part. She became a spectacle and a more disappointingly a burden to her friend. I think that was avoidable.

  7. Surely though this season has been the most contrived, scripted series yet, if Sophie and Ashley are not professional actors and cooks who have been put in the show to keep viewers watching then we are all so silly, then they flog to death that they may be leaving, you all know that is not going to happen, you can see it a mile away they and the Italian moms will fight out the Final

  8. “So then Kirk said that Joanna was really talented in the kitchen and handled the pressure well…”

Seriously, am I the only one who wants to punch the telly every time they cut to a segment where the team repeats every word just spoken by a host?

And does anyone think tonight’s teams were paid extra everytime they said “power” or “advantage”?
This show is just taking the piss now.

  9. Joanna was really talented in the kitchen and could handle the pressure well. She seemed like she had a good, level head on her shoulders. The same cannot be said for Jenna. The sadness constantly showed on her face and was both uncomfortable and embarrassing to endure. I get that her food dream is important to her, but she seriously needed to handle the pressure better.

  10. I too felt sorry for Joanna, clearly flying solo for the entire comp. but the competition is now getting ridiculous where the worst cooks can now be in finals. Angela & Melina should have been out after the first week, but they are keeping them in just to annoy Ashlee and Sophia

  11. This whole Comeback Kitchen polaver (or should that be pavlova?) is total shark jumping. Forcing home cooks into a professional kitchen environment is what Masterchef is about. These muppets have no drive to go professional.

  12. I agree with steviem, I know the producers want “drama” with this type of “entertainment” but I would hope that possible contestants receive some sort of counseling/psychological testing prior to being accepted to the show. David? I have heard they do this for the “Amazing Race” – to see if they can handle the stress. There is no way I could handle the stress – not only the cooking but the publicity and the awful (Awful!) behavior dealt out by other contestants. I feel for the poor lass. Third pic from top – nice hair! At least she has that. Reality TV is not for the fragile.

  13. @ David Knox

I am sorry if I’ve missed this info, but do you know a real/actual filming time( eg. start to finish in days) for this series of MKR please.

  14. Now now David, enough of the sob stories please, you will have me weeping all over my Coles Bakery Cup Cakes.

Any wonder they had so many seasoning problems, how could anyone calculate the salt content, volume and consistency of Jenna’s tears?, and the inner strength required and displayed by Joanna, no doubt made it hard for Joanna to control and not completely crush the pepper grinder out of sheer trustration.

  15. It’s a shame the gorgeous and talented Joanna had to team up with the talented but fragile Jenna. Joanna was my favourite but it was clear she wouldn’t go far saddled with Jenna.

  16. I think it may of been Joanna who wanted to go in the competition and Jenna was just the plus one. I think some people just find it more stressful and have trouble coping with the pressure to cook and the long filming days and judging wouldn’t help.

  17. It;s just a pity that it means losing Joanna to who is not only beautiful but very very talented if she had, had a teammate with even an ounce of talent then she may have gone all the way.
