Sophia & Ashlee sent to ‘Comeback Kitchen’

My Kitchen Rules villains Ashlee and Sophia were cut from the main competition last night -but may yet return.

2013-04-17_0100My Kitchen Rules villains Ashlee and Sophia were cut from the main competition last night and sent to Sunday’s Comeback Kitchen episode.

The pair were cut from MKR‘s Kitchen Headquarters after serving up overcooked kidneys.

After resorting back to Asian cooking pork belly with caramel sauce, Chinese steamed buns and Asian salad, judge Karen Martini told them she was disappointed with the steam bun.

“I was expecting something light as a pillow and it was anything but,” she said.

Manu Feildel said it was the hardest decision he’d had to make in the entire competition.

“It sucks, but we always said we wanted to finish how we started: confident and fearless,” said Sophia. “I don’t think tonight is a loss. They beat us by a hair and only because we made one mistake.”

“I know we gatecrashed the instant restaurants and it was a bit controversial. But doing that, we learnt so much from the both of you (Pete and Manu),” said Ashlee.

But with eliminated teams moving to a last-chance challenge, the controversial friends are still in the show and face off against Angela and Melina plus Mick and Matt this Sunday.

My Kitchen Rules airs Monday-Wednesday at 7:30pm and Sunday at 6:30pm on Seven.

  1. Do people realise that the show finished filming 6 months ago. So all this talk of teams getting through or not for ratings isnt true because no one could predict how contestants turn out.

However i am looking forward to seeing Ashlee and Sophia work together in that tiny kitchen against Angela and Melina.

  2. @David Knox….re confusing promo’s etc.

May I suggest you watch Sunrise more often, if you want to see confusing promo’s, especially for Big Star annoucments, appearances, so called exclusives, and competiton prize values etc. and other stuff that starts to get promoted during the early morning news(pre Sunrise).

You may still be none the wiser, but at least they will eventually dull down anyones expectations.

  3. I don’t watch this show so can someone please help me. I saw ads that said the MKR finals would be after Easter. Is that Easter 2013 or 2014 because the show is still going.
I can’t wait for all the bitchy ads to stop.
Bring on MasterChef without the bitchy contestants

  4. Yes I am a big fan of MKR, and I have enjoyed learning ‘what’ and ‘what not’ to do in my own kitchen, and despite once again feeling exploited by over promotion and draging the suspense factor out to the extreme, but I’ve been at least softened a little by Seven conditioning me, in their daily 3 hour prep time, of ‘And Coming Up’ during their Sunrise Shows.

Despite seeing episode after episode of people getting caught out repeating the same errors of judgement with time committments/requirements of their menu components choices, the constant underestimation of cooking times and the actual performance of kitchen headquarters appliances etc.

Plating up finishes continually ending at the final nano second of the countdown, could one be forgiven in thinking these continual lucky coincidences, may just possibly be contrived/edited lucky coincidences perhaps?.

Again now with this seemingly long drawn out, run up to the MKR Grand Final, is probably only a direct result of the good ratings, especially given that ‘todays’ popularity, was prerecorded and ended ‘several months ago’,( not that sunrise seems to know), and perhaps it is not only the meal menu’s, to come from a well tried receipe, with just the number of ‘customers’, dictating the number of sittings served up.

  5. According to an article by news limited they will be back in ‘combat kitchen’

National tv writer….. Do they actually watch the program!!!!!

  6. rach – you just know Ten will stuff up MCA like they have done with MCP and TBL.

I am betting Celebrity Splash and the great bake off outrate MCA.

Ten better make sure they have a few bitchy female contestants on the next series of MCA – or else they will be toast…again.

  7. They may be cartoon villains at this point, but the girls were perhaps the best cooks of the series along with Dan & Steph. They deserve to get back in over Angela & Mellina based on their talent.

  8. i thought their opening speech was funny. when they were reading out those scores i so wanted them to win. but sundays comeback kitchen will now be appointment viewing.

  9. A totally manipulated score in order to get the Babes into a confined space with Angela and Melina. Blatant grab for ratings and it will probably work. MKR has lost any integrity it may have had with the bitch factor and unpunished cheating taking over a fun cooking show.

  10. As a true fan of MKR, I don’t mind how many episodes they dish up to us, the more the merrier. I don’t think it has dragged on any longer than previous seasons.

  11. So I was off thinking they be in final against Angela and Melina it just happened a week earlier, but humdrum now, has anyone got the care factor anymore to watch this long drawn out show and soon we will have MCA thrust down our throats and TV screens
