Tim Sheridan joins FOX Sports

2013-04-28_2357Former Nine Network sports reporter Tim Sheridan will make his debut with FOX Sports tonight on Rugby HQ.

Sheridan joins as Senior Sports Correspondent after 30 years with Nine covering Wimbledon Championships, US Masters at Augusta, Winter and Summer Olympic Games, and Cricket and Rugby World Cups.

“I am very fortunate to see have seen the best of the sporting world through the empire that was Wide World of Sports,” said Sheridan.

“I’ve been lucky to work with some great managers and some great teams, and I genuinely feel as though I’ve just joined another one. It’s an organisation which is hell-bent on getting better and improving its product, and that’s what I’m really looking forward to about joining FOX Sports.

“It’s different to free-to-air sport in that you are asking people to commit and you are pledging to give them what they want. You‘ve got to make it a must-see, must have experience.

“Patrick (Delany) and the team are keen to milk me of every trick and every skill that I’ve learned over 30 years and, whether it be by direct interaction or osmosis, put it into this organisation,” he said.

FOX Sports CEO, Patrick Delany, said: “Tim is one of the most respected and trusted sports journalists in the business with a unique and exceptional style of story-telling. He is a world-class addition to a youthful and energetic FOX Sports journalistic team.

“Tim will begin working with our rugby department on feature stories during the Lions Series and will work across all of our sports in a Senior Correspondent capacity.

“Tim has an exceptional knowledge of all sports and an unrivalled ability to bring to life the amazing stories and personalities in sport.

“He is the modern model of what 21st century talent need to be able to do – write, report, comment, anchor and host, blog and tweet. We are thrilled to have him on the team.

“We want to extract Tim’s passion, knowledge and expertise to help to shape the way we bring through our young reporters and the way we tell our stories across the FOX Sports channels.”
