Georgie Gardner still smiling after collapsing from heat stroke

After hours broadcasting in the sweltering Canadian sun, Georgie Gardner collapsed with heat stroke.

2013-07-04_2241Today show’s Georgie Gardner is smiling but bruised after collapsing in Canada yesterday.

The Today team were broadcasting from Vancouver in the afternoon summer sun when she succumbed to heat stroke.

Executive Producer Neil Breen told TV Tonight, “She fell over and hurt her shoulder, but she’s alright. They thought maybe she’d broken her collar bone. She went to hospital and had some x-rays but she’s alright now and she’s made the late sea plane down to Victoria Island.

“They’d been sitting in the sun 4 hours a day and it’s mid-30s every day.

“She had a little bit of a spill but she’s alright.”

On the official Facebook page however a photo of Georgie with her arm in a sling indicates she “tripped up the stairs.”

Odd…

Meanwhile host Karl Stefanovic joined Today team and crew for a dinner but the meal was taking so long to arrive he slipped out quietly to have a Subway.

Breen, who has remained in Australia, said, “Then he had to ring me at home because he didn’t want to ring one of the crew after leaving without telling them he’d left. He didn’t know where the hotel was.

“So he had to ring me so I could give him the address to tell him where it was so he could get a cab.”

Must have been a big night for Karl…

  1. For someone her age heat stress would be caused simply by not drinking enough water. In the heat and sun and under lights you need to drink a lot.

How do you know she didn’t feel dizzy from heat stress and trip over on the stairs?

  2. Is it that hot in Canada at the moment? Usually in North America its not that hot is it? I cant imagine that she colapsed because of heat stroke. Still she is a very good reporter

  3. Wheres Nine duty of care to their employees? she must not had a hat on [slip, slop, slap]otherwise it will spoil their camera shot of Georgie, glamour before safety!

  4. That weather has led to spectacular backdrops..from the Rockies to Niagra Falls.Aside from Georgie’s mishap they all seem to be having’a whale of a time’.Fun watching the guys drool over the bacon gelato, beaver tails and bacon caesars and seeing bears and moose again.Never watched Today before but being a Canadian expat this has been an awesome week for me.By the way my goal here is to introduce aussies to the caesar..it’s a cocktail like a bloody mary, but instead of tomato juice you use clamato(tomato and clam juice).I know it sounds yucky but combined with worcestershire , tabasco,a celery stick, salt and vodka you got the perfect cocktail.
