Oops. That’s “nemesis” with an “e”
It's Elementary. Two ads on TEN, but only one of which passes the grammar police.

Exhibit A is a still from TEN’s ad for tonight’s episode of Elementary, talking about Sherlock’s very own arch nemesis.
Exhibit B is the same ad a few days later, this time without the typo.

this is surprising its normally nin who leave out the e….
I mentioned this right after last week’s episode in the Lounge. However Watson probably did get the pictures.

There is no excuse for bad grammar for these kinds of things. There used to be several checks before anything went to air but it seems these days 13 year olds are now in charge of anything that goes to air.
These days networks are hiring people whose major mode of communication are tweets and texts and expecting them to do a lot very quickly.
English spelling is very complex and has been fixed in writing while the pronunciation has changed greatly over the last 500 years and the US has changed some of it’s spellings.
Rapid electronic writing is likely to see silent letters start to disappear and the vowels changing to be more phonetic. It also makes abbreviations and shortcuts more important. “nite” has pretty muched replaced “night” and “lite” is acceptable for “light” in some contexts which is useful because “light” has come to have 18 basic different usages according to the OED.
@Nik C: I know what you mean, I am now hearing the word “Fisho’s” in place of Fisherman. I am sick of the news dumbing down the english language to try and associate to the uneducated bogan. I am also regularly hearing Servo, Bottl’o, and Crim, to name a few on the nightly news. I do not truncate every word I say and neither should our news services.
And its not like we can read our newspapers either, The Adelaide Advertiser is a prime example of a trash newspaper, and the online version has more spelling and grammatical errors than you would see in a primary school child’s book report.
it happens on all channels much too often
The channel 10 weather presenter in Brisbane used the word “Cap” cities! I was horrified. Why can’t the presenters be professional and use full words and correct grammar! Misspelling is another sign of unprofessionalism!
That must be about the 5th bad typo this year
