    @Cynical – I haven’t read anything about Broadchurch other than what I’ve seen here, to avoid spoilers (altho’ I think it’s shaping up as Mark’s plumbing mate since he’s the only main character who hasn’t had any red herring scenes) but I agree with what you wrote.

    I have so far enjoyed Colman’s and, to a lesser degree, Tennant’s performance altho’ not so much the actors playing the parents of the deceased. I said earlier that I had thought this was going to be 4 eps and was wondering how they were going to maintain momentum for 8.

    @Pertinax – agree that was obvious too.

    I understood that the butts were collected early before the tide came in and that it’s taken a few days for the analysis to be completed. You’re prob used to CSI where they do it in about an hour. 🙂

    And the tents being on the beach for a week was BS. The area would be gridded and the sand either sifted on site with all captured material bagged & tagged for the lab, or the top few cm of sand would be put into bags and taken to the lab for sifting and analysis.

  3. Grant & Mel gone now only Nat, Mark Barretta & Kochie to go before I will watch this inane show. Have been a Today watcher from the beginning. They were the first & still the best for me.
    If Nine news is now officially No 1 then Seven Brisbane need to stop the ‘No 1 branding’ Up here they are even trying to steal the ‘First with’ branding.
    I thought it was Laurie Oaks that broke the Rudd victory story on Nine but Seven Brisbane are saying it was Mark Riley. Considering the stuff ups that night who will bother watching Seven’s election coverage. Nine & the ABC for me that night.

  4. Some top reviewers in the UK claimed that much of the Broadchurch plot was artificially delayed and/or contrived and the police were rubbish at their jobs. While I enjoyed the show to a degree, particularly on a performance level, I agree with these critiques. It’s 4 episodes worth of plot crammed into 8.

    And Broadchurch wasn’t predictable when it turns out the husband was hiding an affair with a pretty blonde?

    I particular like the way they stuck tents on the beach for a week for important forensic work, and discovered 4 cigarette butts from near the body that would have washed away in the first high tide if they hadn’t acted quickly!

  7. Fantastic result for Sunrise. It was a great send off for Mel and they did it with class. Just proves why Sunrise has done what it’s done. Seeing all the people there was great too and the This is your Life segment was great too. Overall Mel will be missed but she is going to go on to bigger and better things. Will be interesting to see what direction the show takes into the future.
