Renewed: Awkward

US comedy Awkward, starring Ashley Rickards, has been renewed for a fourth season in 2014.

The renewal by MTV comes despite series creator and showrunner Lauren Iungerich exiting the show in June.

Variety reports Chris Alberghini and Mike Chessler will now serve as showrunners, with previous credits including 90210′s, Reba and Tori Spelling’s reality show So Notorious.

Awkward‘s third season premiered in the US in April, with just over 2 million viewers with the second half to rollout in October.

Awkward also airs in Australia on MTV.
