Switched at Birth, which features a mix of deaf, hearing and hearing-impaired characters, airs in Australia on FOX8.

The renewal is good news following the network’s recent decision to cancel Bunheads.

  1. Switched at Birth is a teen soap and it took a couple of episodes to get going. But the deaf angle and couple of good twists make it different and worth watching.

  2. This show is great so this is terrific news. Not good that its renewal had a part to play in the cancellation Bunheads and The Lying Game but oh well. I don’t understand why FOX8 have an output deal with ABC Family and yet only played the first half of season 1 to put it on hiatus. I guess they are trying to fast track The Fosters to try and retain ratings and presume given they are already 40 episodes behind on Switched At Birth an extra couple of months wont hurt the ratings any more, but its still a shame that they couldn’t put it on instead of say Mentalist which should have been on Universal or TV1, or The Amazing Race which should be back on Arena.
