The Observer Effect: August 4

Guests: Colin Friels, Greens Senator Scott Ludlum and singer Tim Rogers.

2013-08-02_0101On The Observer Effect this Sunday Ellen Fanning meets actor Colin Friels, Greens Senator Scott Ludlum and singer Tim Rodgers.

A multi-AFI and Logie Award winner, affectionately known, as the ‘actor’s actor’ Friels will review the week’s events in the hot seat with Ellen Fanning and talk about life in the limelight. He will also discuss aspects of public policy that ‘get his blood up’ and analyse his latest Helpmann Award, for his role in the Arthur Miller’s classic play, Death of a Salesman.

Friels will be joined on the program by the thoughtful, young and impressive Greens Senator, Scott Ludlum. Environmentalist, filmmaker, activist and politician, Ludlum has recently become an advocate for Wikileaks and the principles of Freedom of Speech, speaking up for the rights of whistleblowers, in the context of Bradley Manning controversial life sentence for ‘aiding the enemy’. Engaged and outraged, Ludlum is interested in pushing the debate about climate change in Australia and is currently the Greens spokesperson for Communications, Housing, Heritage, Nuclear Issues, Infrastructure and Sustainable Cities.

Finally this week Fanning takes viewers inside the world of Australian rock n’ roll by interviewing the thoughtful and philosophical front man Tim Rogers. Ellen Fanning will probe the eccentric rock star, singer, writer, actor and founder of the Australian band You Am I, to find out what really makes his creative mojo tick.

Sunday 4 August at 8.30pm on SBS ONE.
