Seven has confirmed the return of The X Factor for 2014 following strong ratings again this year.
The show has announced its next audition tour, for those aged 14 years and over: Under 25 Male, Under 25 Female, 25 and over, and Vocal Groups.

Meanwhile One Direction has also been confirmed for the Grand Final, an interesting coup given it was Nine Live that partnered with One Direction’s Australian tour.

Thought the X factor was great this year, Danni and Redfoo certainly were a big asset, wish that Tina Arena was in the chair next year instead of Nat, and Ronan is great but feel he may have too many things going on to be there next year, lets hope he can still fit it in. The acts are really good too, what great entertainment.
We need a Massive Shake-Up next season, including the Introduction of Wildcards for the Public to vote on to Become the 13th FInalist like they do in the UK and New Zealand.

@Gaz. i don’t doubt it will be renewed, i was just questioning if it had been, but it seems david is on top of it. in the past Australian Idol and SYTYCDA have opened audition registrations for shows that had not been renewed. and on 7; Minute to win it, The amazing race, The Rich list, triple zero heroes, find my family have all done casting calls for seasons that never happened.
I would assume One Direction have contractual obligations with Simon Cowell and The X Factor. Danni was also the mentor for One Direction when they were on The X Factor UK.
@ Mr. J, Of course it will be renewed. It has rated consistently well, and should do so for many seasons to come. Danni and Redfoo are an excellent addition to the show.
Is it actually renewed or have they just announced the audition tour? surely we should know by now that they are not one in the same.
Yes I considered that (mindful of TARA experience) but the Seven site specifically says it will be back in 2014.
I guess because 1 direction was formed by the x factor brand that they would make an appearance. Im assuming the grand final will be made up of teenage girls.
Ive enjoyed this season and I think getting in Danni and Redfoo has been great.
Surely they could just give the Prize to Dami now? She’ll win for sure!
