Simpsons character set to die

Producers confirm a regular character is due to be bumped off. But whom?

2013-10-01_1750A regular Simpsons character is set to die -only the second regular to be bumped off.

Executive producer Al Jean admitted as much in a recent phone conference with the press, promoting the 25th season of The Simpsons.

“I’ll give you a clue that the actor playing the character won an Emmy for playing that character, but I won’t say who it is,” Jean told Sun News.

But of course, virtually all the major characters have seen their voice-cast nab an Emmy over the years.

Maud Flanders was killed off way back in 2000, since reappearing as a ghost.

So make your tips now on which character you think it will be…

  1. I would bet money on Sideshow Bob, it makes the most sense. His appearances used to be fantastic, but now, thanks to the writers, it’s cringe-worthy at best

  2. Well They’re all getting pretty old now. If the Simpsons was a live action show Bart would be 35 Lisa would be 33 and homer would be 60 and Mr Burns would be a 120 years old.

  3. On a show like The Simpsons, it’s virutally impossible to pick; the main cast are so prolific. My first thought was Sideshow Bob but as tomothy pointed out not a regular, but a guest.
Alls i know is that Harry Shearer has never won an Emmy so it is none of his characters! Well that didn’t help much…..

  4. Sideshow Bob is not a regular character. He’s a reoccurring guest, as was Fat Tony who was killed off but replaced with some relative who looks and sounds like him and assumed his identity. Whereas Maude Flanders was a regular character and killed, although she was not a key player. I’d say its someone we see regularly but not as heavily as Moe, Barney, Ned and Skinner to name a few.

  5. Agree it will probably be Sideshow Bob. They obviously don’t know what to do with him anymore.

My other guess would be Apu. In the US Apu has recently come under a lot scrutiny for being an ancient racist stereotype that doesn’t belong on TV anymore…which crucially even Hank Azaria agreed was probably true.
