i’ll be watching studio 10 – sounds really good without all the celeb nonsense
Your move, SBS. 😉
Surely it comes down to maths,it won’t work, can’t see a dividend for a long time, if ever!
Tv blog I know, but you can’t beat Fran Kelly on Radio National and she interviews David every Tuesday.
Good luck to all if them.
Was thinking Jackie o in light of her departure from breakfast radio would be good fit for studio one
Seriously, Lisa has confirmed it. twitter.com/lisa_wilkinson/status/396894837019922432
Also, Media Spy is debating whether or not some previous co hosts will be back.
I don’t watch morning TV, but Wake Up looks like a genuine alternative and I wish Ten the best of luck. If they can get their morning lineup to fire (in time) then they’ll have an additional outlet to promote their primetime programming.
@Cronker. I think Tommy Little would struggle to fly to Sydney every day after doing Breakfast radio in Melbourne.
Lisa on Twitter: There’s stuff happening at @thetodayshow Can’t say too much. Yet…

Smells like a new set!
You forgot to mention SKY News First Edition, which is on par with ABC News Breakfast with its rolling news coverage. Looking forward to better breakfast Television though with 5 competitors in the market. 5 is a lot though when you consider we have a population in Australia of only 24 million.
Sorry I missed that discussion, David.
But the idea of Gretel and Ita?
I’d definitely watch that!
@David, Today producers have confirmed a Monday relaunch.
twitter.com/cathymurray9/status/396182355599036416 – Tweet from Cathy Murray, Nov 1.
Nine could be unsure of whether or not to go with the new set so haven’t committed to it. The paper reported they were doing a dry run today.
They could have decided that few choice leaks in Sunday paper and posting on Twitter and a surprise tomorrow was the way to market it.
Or it could be misinformation or bad reporting.
We shall see tomorrow morning. Though I won’t because I don’t watch TV before 7:30pm except for Sport on the weekend.
Here’s a few ideas I have. Feel free to flame.
TEN should stick by their morning shows, let the ratings grow. It took time for GMA to work in the 80s, and both 7 and 9 have been happy to let their morning shows grow and breathe.
If I was signing the cheques, I would be all over Gretel Killeen as a host somewhere. She was more than competent on BB and as a guest on Today she shows her intelligence and skill at journalistic television.
Studio 10 sounds like a revamp of The Circle. Nothing at all wrong with that – Circle was actually decent morning viewing at times. Maybe this one would be an off-centre suggestion, but why not get Tommy Little in there? Better than Hildebrand and he’s got to do something since his other shows won’t be renewed. He is a talent, but TEN haven’t found the right vehicle for him yet.
I’d suggested Gretel pair with Ita some time ago. She has TEN audience history.
Studio 10 just lost me Meshel Laurie…more of the same unfunny ‘comedians’ from Ten already. Meshel & Joe Hildebrand in the same studio…No no no.
What is with Ten & all the women on these shows with only 2 men. Where is the gender balance there?
I’m also looking forward to watching Wake Up.
Im just expecting this new 10 show to flop. Not sure why but I hope they go ok.
Overkill. They can’t all survive. I was a Today watcher for years, now ABC Breakfast. Not sure that Ten’s version has enough point of difference, other than its location. Judging by the drop in numbers across even its best performers, it is a brave venture. I would switch to Ita, but i need to get a life and start my day by 8.30am. I normally switch to AM Agenda on Sky at 8.30
It’s not a rumour, the producers of Today have tweeted it, and did so Friday night.
They were going to do it in the new year but decided to jump in early.
Publicity did not confirm. Doesn’t mean it isn’t happening.
Yeah the rumour mill is going crazy on the possibility of a new new Today set/graphics/format. Can’t wait if it’s true 😀

David any word on the rumoured Today re-launch tomorrow? There were mentions on twitter of new set graphics and format. Big changes and exciting times for audiences.
Not yet.
I’m looking forward to giving Wake Up a go. My only worry is that it will be too alike to a morning version of The Project which I don’t want. Time will soon tell!
James Mathison is one lucky guy along side 2 of the best women on 10. From memory want Nuala on 7 as a UK correspondent? A good line up. I wish them every success. It will be hard to compete with 7 & 9. I will be watching ABC though because I prefer no cash cows and ads.
So Today isn’t starting at 5.30 anymore?
