Kym Valentine settles legal case with FremantleMedia

Case between Neighbours actor and producers is resolved -but where does that leave 'Libby?'

kym_vFormer Neighbours‘ actor Kym Valentine has settled her lawsuit against FremantleMedia Australia.

Valentine took indefinite leave from the ELEVEN soap in April 2011 following a series of health setbacks, including contracting pneumonia in 2008.

In July it emerged that she was suing producers over sex and disability discrimination.

She claimed FremantleMedia failed to provide “a working environment that was safe” and that it breached “the relationship of trust and confidence”.

It isn’t known if Valentine has been rehired for the role of Libby Kennedy, a part she played for 15 years.

Her character has been written out but left the door open for a potential return.

As revealed by TV Tonight, Valentine has a small role in Nine’s Fat Tony & Co. airing in 2014.

  1. So strange this.

I thought she was just unwell so they made up some quick reason in the show as to why she wasn’t there anymore and she would return when she was better.

Seems she is better now? So I don’t know why she hasn’t returned.

  2. @billbeast I agree. The Timmins family were great and it wasn’t long after they left (not their own choice) that the show took a serious downward slide.

  3. I haven’t watched Neighbour since about 2010. The whole river rafting Wimpy Zeke dying then coming back a few months later was ridiculous. Also Michala Banas wasn’t good as Libby. Neighbours was good, but it just became crap. The worst thing to happen to the show was losing The typical botany Janelle and her children.
