Nine appoints News boss in Perth

Nine Perth has appointed Shaun Menegola as its local Director of News.

It follows recent announcements at STW9 after Nine Network took control of the channel from WIN Television.

David Mott, Channel Nine Perth Managing Director, said, “We are excited that Shaun Menegola is joining Channel Nine Perth. He is one of the most experienced news directors in Australia.

“His hands-on approach to news production has seen him achieve record ratings. He has a unique ability to determine what interests the people of Perth.”

Menegola said: “News is my passion and I’ve spent three decades working in print and TV, including six years as producer and deputy news director and 11 as a news director. This is a great time to be joining STW9, now owned by the Nine Network which has a great news heritage. I am ready for the ratings battle ahead.”

Menegola has enjoyed previous roles at the Seven and TEN Networks and at The West Australian, leading award-winning coverage, including the Best Television News Coverage in 2010 (Perth Storms) and 2011 (Black Sunday/Kelmscott/Roleystone Fires) at the Western Australian Media Awards.

He also worked as Senior Media Adviser in the Office of the Premier and has been a lecturer at Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts Broadcasting course.

He begins Monday, November 11.
