Mel B banned from The Project

Mel B won't be on The Project tonight after all, after a court ruling earlier this year prevents her appearance.

2013-11-01_1427Mel B won’t be appearing on The Project tonight after all.

Fairfax Media reports Seven pointed to the court ruling earlier this year which prevented her from working for another network for twelve months.

Executive Producer Craig Campbell said,”For us, it’s business,” he said. “We don’t want to upset anyone – it’s not in our world to do that – so when Seven told us about this, we went, ‘You’ve actually got a fair point there.’ It’s all good.

“We’ve got a good show tonight anyway, with supermodel Tyson Beckford.”

Yesterday TEN did not respond to enquiries about the legal ramifications of her appearance.

A Seven spokesperson told TV Tonight, “Our action was against the Nine Network.”

  1. I was slightly amused to see that Mel B was on another network this weekend: her appearance on an episode of Never Mind the Buzzcocks (from 2010) surfaced on the ABC.

Always liked Mel B but have to say a contract is a contract and it should not have been signed if she was not happy with the agreement, she just wanted more money, just sheer greed, and carolemorrissey said about Jake Wall was on skating on ice and Jennifer not being able to be in the audience, doesn’t she remember when channel 9 would not let Bert Newton be in the audience when Patti was on DWTS and I think that was well before dancing on ice so what’s the difference.

    Seven has been paying Mel B a massive salary for years and part of that salary involved her agreeing not appear on a competing network for a year after her contract ended with Seven. If she didn’t want that she could have negotiated a contract without a non-compete clause and of course been paid a much lower salary.

  4. What a ridiculous statement kushkook – just because you don’t watch The Project or TV on a Friday night, doesn’t mean nobody else does. We don’t all go out clubbing or whatever. The world doesn’t revolve around you and your tastes.

  7. She was on MIX FM in Melbourne today and was quite funny (chicken salad anyone) and then they played her new single. Awful song.

    Hope she reappears on Aus TV doing what she does best.
