Logie voting not until early February

It's been December in recent years, but Logie voting won't get started until another 46 days.

logies2012 034Voting for the Logie Awards will begin on Monday February 3, another 46 days away according to their TV Week’s website.

In recent years Logies moved voting to the end of the ratings season (November 26 2012, December 5 2011 and December 6 2010) in order to kick off while shows were still fresh in viewers’ minds.

But the 56th Logie Awards, will take place on Sunday April 27, with 4 weeks of voting instead of 12.

Next year’s event is also set to be around three weeks later than this year, due to the calendar dates of Easter non-ratings. Logies has been held on the first Sunday after the Easter break.

TV Week Deputy Editor Erin McWhirter recently told MediaWeek voting for the next Logies would come with a mobile optimised site.

Meanwhile the 3rd AACTA Awards take place on January 30 and will screen on TEN.

Don’t know why they have voting at all I think the whole thing is rigged as actors in the shows that do well in the ratings which is obviously what people watch most, don’t seem to get anywhere yet logies go to people that are not even Australian like last years New Talent winner that are only in Oz for the money not because they are really true blue.

  2. Can we please stop pretending Carrie Bickmore is entertaining?

    I nearly fell off my chair when I saw she had been voted for a gold logie; really channel ten? Carrie is at the same level of greatness as Asher? No.

    I already had to avoid Henry the polar bear because of her (I tired, honestly I did but her voice is not good) and now they think she can host SYTYCD. Please make it stop!!!

  4. Watch Offspring dominate this year! Will be good for Ten to win a few. Asher for Silver, Matthew for silver and one of those 2 for gold! Would also not be surprised to see it grab most popular drama.

  5. I would prefer voting for the Logies to start on the first Monday of January. Go for 4 weeks. And have the Logies air in March. I think late April is too late for an awards show that is based on the previous year.
