Returning: Kevin McCloud’s Man Made Home

Having built a cabin in the woods, Kevin McCloud now tackles a seaside retreat.

2014-01-01_1421ABC recently rescheduled Fleming: The Man Who Would Be Bond and replaced it with Season Two of Kevin McCloud’s Man Made Home.

In the first season he built a cabin in the woods, and now he tackles a seaside retreat.

Having successfully crafted a small cabin in the woods, Kevin McCloud returns with a new Man Made challenge. In this four-part series, he’s attempting to create his own beach getaway on the English coast, testing a basic hypothesis – is simple better? And is creating better than consuming?

Kevin moves his entire shed to the sublime Somerset Jurassic coast. This stunning location brings fresh adventures for him as he transforms his beloved cabin into a beach hut of his dreams.

Kevin uncovers inventive building materials in remarkable places and experiments with novel off-grid energy sources – all so that he can sit out on his porch as the sun goes down, listen to the sound of the crashing waves and sip a cocktail featuring his own home-made rum.

Episode One: Off To The Beach
Inspired by a shipwrecked fishing boat, Kevin salvages its oak ribs to build a gravity-defying cliff-top deck on which he can spend the summer al fresco. To give his retreat some light, he taps into an unusual energy supply residing in the waves, in the form of fish oil. And in a madcap dash to the local pub, Kevin hits the high seas with his Man Friday, Will Trickett, on a raft made from inflatable sheepskin balloons.

Presented by Kevin McCloud. Executive Producers: Eve Kay and Sue Murphy. Series Producer: Benjamin Leigh.
