EXCLUSIVE: The team at Working Dog (Frontline, The Panel, Thank God You’re Here, Have You Been Paying Attention?, The Hollowmen) have been a busy bunch, with a Pay TV comedy in their sights.
“We have a major project in development with Working Dog,” Director of Television Brian Walsh confirmed to  TV Tonight.
The project is understood to be a scripted comedy series.
“To my knowledge what they’re doing has never been done on Australian television. So don’t expect a panel show,” he said.
“Don’t expect it to be like anything you’ve seen before. It’s a very fresh, original idea.”
Working Dog is already in production on Have You Been Paying Attention?, Sam Santo & Ed’s Total Football, Utopia and has an upcoming play to be produced by the Melbourne Theatre Company.
Will the project be on air in 2014?
“Yes.”

Still holding out for a Late Show reunion on the ABC, a 2hr special would be awesome.
@ cnrmlj – because it further reduces the less watched Foxtel-owned channels importance. Why have a comedy-dedicated channel if you’re not going to give it premium comedy content but give it to the ‘big dog’ FOX8 which shows a bit of everything. It’s like seeing Helix on FOX8 – it is shown on Syfy US but because 1) it is produced by Sony and 2) because of FOX8’s big pockets Syfy Aust. missed out. Besides the real question should be – why can’t we watch premium comedy content on Comedy in HD?
Why would you want it on Comedy Channel in SD when it can be on Fox 8 in HD? Put it on Fox 8 HD (or any other HD channel – I really don’t care).
Much prefer something like this to that Housewives garbage.
Finally some scripted comedy content! The amount of reality which is shown on Foxtel is rediculous so to see some variety is well over due – not to mention wanted! I just hope it actually airs on Comedy and not on another Foxtel owned channel simply because it rates better (FOX8 is a big culprit of this).
