Ben Fordham to exit Today at end of year

Ben Fordham will leave the Today show at the end of the year to concentrate on his Drive program on 2GB.

2014-03-03_1149Ben Fordham will leave the Today show at the end of the year to concentrate on his Drive program on 2GB.

“This is now the fourth and final year that I can work both ends of the day,” he told The Australian.

“(My wife) Jodie has been incredibly understanding with my work arrangement but I end to be realistic about what I can do and how long I can do it.”

Fordham had previously been amongst the many rumours of potential replacements for Karl Stefanovic if and when he moved permanently to primetime television.

While this will end a TV “bro-mance” it doesn’t look like either of those things will be happening anytime soon.

Who would be your tip to replace Fordo on Today?

  1. I stopped watching today becuase of karl and ben . One is a right wing fool and karl is just a fool. Good riddance. Hope karl goes soon . Love wake up .

  3. I feel as though Brett Lee should join the Today Sports Presenter because he presents the news clearly and comprehensively. Brett Lee should be a good replacement for Ben.

  4. Beau Ryan is a very good choice. More talented on the screen than on the field, IMO.
    But I would be chasing Ryan Phelan – there is talent in him that hasn’t yet been exploited. I think he could be a replacement for Karl down the line, and pair him up with Emma Freedman for a total refresh!

  5. I like Ben. Maybe cause I’m a guy. But my wife likes him too. A normal bloke. I think if you watch morning TV every day for over an hour concentrating you’ll get too locked in to it. It should be on in the background, or as of this year, don’t have it on at all! If you have time to sit and watch tele, time to do some exercise instead. Pity about him leaving, but it won’t change anything on the show really. The regular hosts are in and out like weekend casuals anyways.

  7. I don’t wake up with Today much because of Ben and Karl. When Karl does the serious journo thing he is great but the clown thing doesn’t work for me. He is not totally bad but needs to back off a bit. Just not a fan of Ben. The girls are great though. I am a Sunrise viewer but do flick around. Wake Up is improving a bit.

  11. I think he has done the show good, he’s good at what he does always smiling brought good energy to the show. Shame he’s leaving tv for radio. I sometimes still switch to today when I do watch breakfast tv but now have switched over to studio 10.

  16. End of the year???? But that is nine months away!

    Why do we have to wait so long?

    And any chance he can take his boofhead mate with him? Please?

  17. A shame that Forham will be leaving, but it is long days for him. He’s pretty good on the 2GB radio.

    I hope its not Tim Gilbert. From what ive seen of him (which is on The Sunday NRL Footy Show), he’s all not that good. I don’t know who’ll replace Fordham
