Update:

Top 24 contestant Cecilia Vuong was absent and the judges made the shock announcement that Cecilia was unable to continue in the competition.

Gary Mehigan addressed the contestants on behalf of the judges: “As you know, Cecilia is recovering from a brain injury. We received expert medical advice instructing us that it is not in her best interest to continue in the competition.

“Cecilia is a brilliant cook and we all hope we see her next year in this competition.”

Stepping up to take the coveted spot in the Top 24 is Georgia Hughes, 18, from South Australia.

  1. I’m loving it so far, I agree that I’d back to the good old days! I’m a little disappointed that those two girls kept mentioning they met at the Adelaide Auditions and have been through the whole thing together, blar blar… but we didn’t get to see any of that. It seems like an odd story line to leave in, if the viewer wasn’t part of it.
they could have just had a package showing how those top 50 got there and I would have been happy.

  2. One criticism: a few of the people in the Top 24 have had barely any airtime yet, we really only have seen a lot of a few people – Byron, Nick, Ben, Emily, Sarah, Amy, Renae.
Presumably some of the others will get a bigger part to play in the show in coming weeks.
Overall, MC seems improved from last year’s debacle, good signs so far.

  3. It’s always nice to see the mix of races and ages on this show. The one thing that always stuck with me about MCA was when they had Amina on. You go from shows like ACA and TT constantly bashing on minorities and here you have everyone brought together by the same passion, void of bitching and judgement.

Yes, it’s just a silly cooking competition, and maybe I’ve got my rose coloured glasses on today.. but it’s a nice change from the casting on some other shows.

  4. The show was good as always

Strange thing is that it rekindles back to the first series

There’s no overt product advertisment placements, the show is very food focused, the co hosts are releaxed and likeable.
