Renewed: Modern Family, The Middle, The Goldbergs, Beauty & the Beast.

A number of comedies and one drama also get the green light.

Must have been that Australian episode that sealed it.

Amongst the wave of US renewals ahead of the Upfronts is The Middle, also back for a sixth season.

80’s-themed comedy The Goldbergs, which begins shortly on Seven, wins a second season.

Beauty and the Beast starring NZ actor Jay Ryan (Sea Patrol, Go Girls, Neighbours, Top of the Lake) has been renewed for a third season.

  1. @Nate
Normally a poor rating show with only 2 seasons would have zero chance of getting renewed for the minimum 2 more seasons for syndication.

New shows have a very little chance of succeeding, which is generating large losses for both networks and producers. Looks like they are doing deals to maintain cash-flow and keeping anything with possible, syndication, online, DVD or OS sales alive for their last few slots.

  2. This is great news love Modern Family and the middle. And I’m so excited to hear that The Goldberg is gonna start soon on Australian tv. That will definitely be a hit. I’ve seen a few episodes on the Internet and I loved it. Just as long as Ch 7 doesn’t put it on very late it has to be before 9pm to do any good. Dont kill it like they did with 30Rock and HIMYM by putting it on at like 11.30.

  3. Beauty and the Beast is one of the most surprising renewals ever. It must have plenty to do with it being already 2 seasons in/2 seasons off syndication and being one of the few CBS owned shows (as opposed to WB shows) on the network.

It certainly has zero to do with ratings as it was CW’s 2nd lowest rating show of the season and it was pulled for a summer burn-off after only rating 0.2 in the demos.
