Tony Jones pushes for PM to appear on Q & A

Tony Abbott hasn't appeared on Q & A since August 2010, but Tony Jones is hoping to change that.

qandHe hasn’t appeared on the show since August 2010, but Tony Abbott remains the object of Tony Jones’ Q & A affections.

Jones is hoping to persuade him to front up, after last week’s episode featuring the Treasurer.

“The Joe Hockey appearance might actually convince him [Abbott] that it is a good idea,” he told Fairfax. “To our immense regret he did not come on during the last election campaign.”

“We really hope Tony Abbott gets that message because he was once one of the best performers on the Q & A panel because he was a direct speaker. He had views sometimes members of the audience didn’t like but he used to win them over.”

But in case any ‘pesky kids’ are planning to protest, security has now been tightened with identification checks to reduce the chances of another student disruption.

We’ll have to take any banners as a comment.

  1. He’d be a sitting duck for all the ALP stooges in the crowd. Any politician from the right of politics never gets a fair go with the possible exception of Turnbull.

  2. I’d love TA to go on Q&A

“Hello all. Tonight I am announcing the privatisation of the ABC. For too long the ABC has been an unaccountable behemoth that is a waste of taxpayers money and no longer represents the majority of Australians. Centrelink is that way Tony. Thank you and good night”

And then he just walks off the stage giving the bird to the camera

  3. He won’t accept. Can’t handle questions from the ABC. He only appears on ‘Tony Friendly’ shows. Think Alan Jones,Ray Hadley, Karl Stefanovic. I couldn’t bear to look at him for an hour, nor could I cope with an hour of his slogans, spin and clichés.

  4. or just replay the footage as he will give the same answers to all sort of questions…its all Labor fault and now we are fixing it…blah blah blah…

  5. He will not appear.

His method is to simply not answer difficult questions or be seen any place he may be asked difficult questions.

And Jezza said “There is also a fair amount of hatred for TA which is not a good backdrop for a fair debate”

All I can say is, you reap what you sow.

  6. It would be good to get TA on Q&A, but probably after the budget has been finalised. Half the budget measures aint gonna happen. The govt need to finalise all the backflips and conpromises, pass the legislation and then TA can come and talk about his record. At the moment all we have got is all sides of politics mouthing off and very little actual action. There is also a fair amount of hatred for TA which is not a good backdrop for a fair debate
