FOX axes Riot, I Wanna Marry Harry in US.

Bad news for Rove McManus and fake Prince Harry.

2014-06-13_1047I don’t normally file stories on specific US Programming, but this one holds some local relevance.

FOX Network has pulled both Riot, hosted by Rove McManus, and I Wanna Marry Harry from its broadcast schedule.

For the past two weeks, both shows have earned a 0.4 in the all-important adults 18-49 rating.

Riot, the US version of SlideShow, has struggled from its soft launch despite having Steve Carell as producer.

It is off the FOX schedule from next week.

Dating series I Wanna Marry Harry, currently screening in Australia on TEN, will now be seen online at Fox.com, Fox On Demand, FOX NOW and Hulu.

Originally slated for a Sunday premiere in Australia with some hype, TEN made a last-minute switch to Fridays.

Last week it attracted the princely figure of 275,000 viewers.

TIME said of the concept: When Fox premiered the dating-deception show I Wanna Marry “Harry” last month, it raised the question of whether there was yet a reality-show concept so insulting, cynical, sexist and shameless that TV viewers would refuse to watch.

There was, and they did.

  1. ten should have never have squandered shareholders funds with Harry, knowing it was unlikely to succeed …. add this to Bingle, the shire, a league of their own, this week live, and I will suvive ….

  2. I too wonder what this means for Harry on Ten. I know it’s car crash TV but I enjoy watching vacuous bimbos who believe they might actually marry royalty. So will it continue to air on Ten? When/how do find out? As for Rove, I liked him too and wonder why he even went to America. Apart from a couple of guest spots, what has he been doing over there?

  3. @italianguy1987 Slideshow actually did reasonably well, but 7 have an embarrassment of riches and weer smart enough to see a second series would probably continue to fade.

  4. As some have commented Rove could just come back here and have his show again. No-one is yet to be filling the void left by him and hey hey.

Also what does this mean for I Wanna Marry Harry here? I’ve actually been watching it and liking it. Really want to see how it works out when they finally find out he isn’t Harry.

  5. @SecretSquirrel….great quote, it is almost unbelievable what programmers/execs come out with.

Everyone knew Harry was a pile of crap, what is wrong with these people

  6. A month ago Beverley McGarvey said that “… the online buzz surrounding this show overseas is enormous. It is rapidly becoming a television event.”

No buzz, no event. Even Fox won’t show this crap but Ten think that it’s just the thing for their target audience of 25-54 year-olds. Ten are getting rid of the wrong people.

  7. Good news about Harry but poor Rove!!!

Rove should forget about trying to crack the US and just come home to Australia.

He should have hosted the Aussie version of SlideShow and it would have been a hit.

Or he could come back to channel 10 and do his talk show again…that would help Channel 10 a huge amount.

Have it on Sundays again…come on Rove.

    Australians love you
