Jamie Oliver set to follow MasterChef
MasterChef wraps on July 28, but can Save with Jamie serve up a suitable replacement?

The MasterChef Australia finale will air 7:30pm Monday July 28th as two finalists compete for the $250,000 prize and the 2014 title.
The series, which has been enjoying a strong resurgence, will air across two hours on TEN.
But the following night, Tuesday July 29, TEN is back to Jamie Oliver with a new series of Save with Jamie.
“Piri Piri Pork”
Jamie shows how to create a piri piri pork belly with crispy crackling & frugal hangover noodles topped with Asian-style crispy and runny fried egg.
While I get the programming link of dovetailing from one food series to another, this does highlight the problems TEN is facing without a big brand to replace MasterChef.
The Bachelor will premiere on the following night, July 30 and continues July 31. TEN is clearly carving out a Wednesday / Thursday map for the series so it doesn’t compete head-on with The X Factor. Nine will also have The Block: Glasshouse in play by then.
Of course, all of this takes place during the Commonwealth Games, which should see TEN numbers rise. It’s a bit unfortunate TEN’s primary channel won’t cross to the games until around 9:30pm on most nights (from 6pm on ONE) due to a lack of finals in Glasgow’s early morning schedule.

Its a good move to have The Bachelor on Wednesdays and Thursdays. Even if Sundays and Mondays struggle post MasterChef, at least Ten will still have a competitive Wednesday to Friday lineup. Maybe Recipe to Riches will also air two nights a week on Sundays and Mondays possibly.
One of those nights for sure. Two, who knows…
As much as I’m a fan of Jamie Oliver I thought this show didn’t work when it was last broadcast on Ten.
It wasn’t that long ago that Jamie’s shows were broadcast in non-ratings seasons, how has it happened that Ten are now using them to replace the MC juggernaut?
I love Jamie.
I’m not a fan of MC or any other reality.
So, I am really pleased to read this 🙂
It just shows how important major formats are to underpin the schedule. Jamie Oliver isn’t a marquee show, if anything it sounds like a filler on a Sunday afternoon.
With Seven having TXF & TAR, and Nine bringing on The Block & BB, Ten need some more big scale formats ASAP. The Bachelor isn’t enough alone.
I was wondering what Ten was going to show once MC is finished. I do like the idea of only showing the Bachelor on Wednesday and Thursday, hopefully viewers will tune in, considering that 7 does not have any reality on, unless they show TARAUvsNZ on a Wednesday or Thursday.
Also what is Ten going to show in their 7:30 slot on Mondays? The article does not say unless we are to assume that the Jamie Oliver show will be on both Monday and Tuesdays.
