Alexa wins The Voice: Kids

2014-08-10_220910 year old singer Alexa (pictured, right) has won The Voice: Kids.

The Team Delta singer defeated Bella from Team Madden and Maddison from Team Mel to take a $50,000 music scholarship in Nine’s grand final last night. She was also the youngest finalist in contention.

Alexa, whose surname has not been disclosed, was voted the winner following a 15 minute public vote during the final. All three finalists would have been watching with interest last night, given Nine had pre-recorded three endings, only one of which played out on air.

“I want to thank my parents and my brother who have supported me throughout this journey, as well as the crew from the Voice Kids and everyone who got behind me on Team Delta. I would also like to thank the Coaches for their kind feedback, and of course my angel Delta, who has been my inspiration since I was very little. I have loved your kindness and great advice,” she said.

But the series was not without some controversy, following criticism that contestants were too young for the rigours of Reality TV, especially when one burst into tears when coaches failed to turn for her performance.

Produces Shine Australia defended the inclusion in the edited show after lengthy discussions with the family, citing it as an authentic moment.

Each of the Top Six finalists won a trip to Disneyland Los Angeles for themselves and their families.

  1. I do not understand how a Live finale can be reached when three endings were recorded and six people were in the finale.

Does this mean that three of the finalists didn’t have a chance of winning? If so, why were they in the finale in the first place?

  2. Can’t believe they actually film three winner endings.

In doing that the reactions aren’t genuine as they have to pretend that they’ve won (as they don’t know whether they have or not yet).
