It’s been quite a while coming, but Season Three of Silk will begin later this month on ABC, replacing The Time of our Lives.
Maxine Peake and Rupert Penry-Jones are back as QCs Martha Costello and Clive Reader, respectively.
This is tipped to be the final series for the drama, which aired in the UK in February.
Brilliant, passionate defence barrister Martha Costello (Maxine Peake) is now a QC of a year’s standing. Her reputation for defending the poor and downtrodden has grown and she’s now busier than ever. Meanwhile, her colleague Clive Reader (Rupert Penry-Jones), now also a QC, is specialising in prosecution. They know, the criminal bar, being the small world that it is, that they will inevitably be pitted against each other.
And to complicate matters further, as they celebrate Clive making Silk, he tells Martha he loves her.
Clive’s celebration party is dramatically cut short when news arrives that head of chambers Alan Cowdrey’s (Alex Jennings) son David has been arrested for killing a police officer during a political demonstration.
8:30pm Thursday August 21st ABC.

@ Secret Squirrel,,,me…I love TOOL…good stories…handled well…well written and acted….and kudos for the way they handled Rays story (Tony Barry)…made a good story line and kept a good actor working.
Glad I caught the first 2 series – very much looking forward to this.
I’m happy about this. A gave ToOL a decent go but I found it quite uninteresting.
This is a top show, if the first two series are anything to go by.
Great cast, great writing and done as the the Brits know how.
