Well this will be must-see TV….

SBS will screen the Monty Python reunion, Monty Python Live (Mostly): One Down, Five to Go, filmed in July.

It will premiere later this month followed by a screening on STV channel Studio, the following night.

It is the first reunion on stage in 30 years for John Cleese, Terry Gilliam, Eric Idle, Terry Jones and Michael Palin  …and set to be their last ever.

Filmed in July on the final night of ten sold out performances at London’s epic O2 arena, Monty Python Live (Mostly) – One Down and Five to Go is the influential comedy troupe’s hilarious last stand.

At a combined age of nearly 361, John Cleese, Terry Gilliam, Eric Idle, Terry Jones and Michael Palin take to the stage and perform some of Monty Python’s classic sketches and much-loved songs.

Laugh like you haven’t for years to ‘The Four Yorkshiremen’, ‘The Spam Sketch’, ‘The Albatross’ and the infamous ‘Dead Parrot Sketch’.

Sing along to “The Lumberjack Song” and get the whole family shouting the rousing chorus of “Every Sperm is Sacred”.

The bombastic show also encompasses film inserts from Monty Python’s Flying Circus, Terry Gilliam’s iconic animations, outrageous ensemble dance routines and a fantastic live orchestra.

Monty Python Live (Mostly) – One Down, Five to Go brings all the silliness, absurdity, and iconic Brit humour that has cemented the Python’s reputation as the most influential comedy group of all time and, more importantly, one of the funniest.

8.30pm Sunday 28 September on SBS ONE and at 7.30pm Monday 29 September on STUDIO.

  1. I don’t usually plan that far ahead but I already know what I’ll be doing at 8:30pm three weeks from today.

I can just about recite some of the more iconic sketches but hopefully there’ll be some new bits added/tweaked/updated. Would also be nice if that well-worn familiarity encourages more interaction with the audience.
