Nine News Queensland, led by Andrew Lofthouse and Melissa Downes, has claimed the ratings year for 2014 in South East Queensland.
Nine News 6pm has won 25 weeks and the 6.30 half hour has chalked up 21 of 40 weeks. Seven News has won 4 and 8 weeks respectively.
“It’s satisfying to see our determination to provide the most informative and comprehensive news coverage is being so well received by our viewers,” Mike Dalton, Director of Nine News Queensland, said. “We will continue to build and improve our news service to ensure delivery of the best bulletins possible with the extensive resources we have available to us through the Nine Network and our affiliates.”
Nine has already claimed the year in Melbourne and Sydney, but the battle is much closer nationally due to Seven claiming the year in Adelaide and Perth.

Used to always watch 7 but switched to 9 when Kaye and rod were shafted for bill. Don’t like bill at all, so don’t watch 7 until Friday night when I can watch Kay and rod. But I would watch whoever had a 30 minute news, I hate 1 hour news.
Kay and Rod win Friday and Saturday night, every week! Surely that should tell channel 7 they were wrong in shafting them.
I am a devoted 7 news (Brisbane) watcher, I prefer Rod & Kay reading the News they have so much chemistry……. I cant stand Paul Burt doing the weather, he is useless.
One thing I hate about Nine News here in Brisbane is the overly dramatic voice over by the anchors at the start of the bulletin. It is really annoying.
I only watch TEN Eyewitness News with Georgina Lewis, but if I had to I’d definitely choose 7 News over 9 any day.
I didn’t mind Sharyn, Bill, Rod and Kay (liked Rod and Kay better) on the 7News Brisbane when I lived up there on the Goldie. Preferred 7News over the others, seems not everyone else does though.
