  1. I respectfully disagree with the comments that with Brody gone so has the series. His death at the end of Series 3 tied the first three series together, and gave me as a viewer a deep sense of dramatic conclusion. Harrowing though.

I often found the shows hard going and the story line around Brody’s daughter tedious. But with his death it was all (in the moment) worth it. That’s what I love about TV! The emergence of Saul as a real power, as well as the characters Quinn, Dar Adal, Javadi, Akbari, and Senator Lockhart – gave the show depth and complexity.

The new story line is relevant to what’s currently happening in the middle and near east, but not in a chest thumping manner – quite the opposite. I look forward to the series unfolding.

  2. Huge fan of Homeland from Day 1. I was shocked that in the past couple of seasons that it was not a huge hit for CH10. I thought it would easily crack a million viewers each week and then some. Putting it on at half 9 is almost saying we have lost all faith in this program.

I will be watching it and it is one of the rare FTA programs I actually enjoy, I think the story quality has not diminished either unlike some other comments on here.

  3. Should be a good night of viewing with Party Tricks too. I caught up on Homeland season 3 earlier this year and I enjoyed it more than when it was on tv. Season 4 is a new story arc, and hopefully the show can be creatively refreshed.

  4. In regards to my comments earlier on Saul; it was actually a behind-the-scenes thing I was watching online. It was ages ago, so you’ll have to forgive me for not being able to quote a link/source.
Basically said that he is not written out of the show (yet!), but that he will not be written as a main character anymore, but instead will just pop up from time to time.
    Didn’t sound good to me.

  5. Season 3 was awful – don’t see this show ever getting back the ratings it got in the first season.

I will check out the premiere but don’t have high expectations. I prefer 24 over Homeland any day

  6. F Murray Abe’s now committed to a Broadway play with Nathan Lane – so unless they’ve finished filming this current season already can’t see Abe being too involved.

Dreadful if Patinkin is being edged out. Great actor.

  7. No Damien Lewis and a double-ep at 9:30 isn’t going to do it any favours but I’ll give it a look.

@Hayley7 – I hope that’s not true about Saul as I don’t think the characters of Carrie and Quinn will be enough to sustain the show for me. Maybe if F. Murray Abraham’s character has a stronger role – maybe…

  8. With no Brody there is no Homeland. They’re also edging out Saul apparently.
You gotta understand, this was my favourite show, but getting rid of Damian and Mandy are death wishes. I will not be watching this season.

  9. Ten is doubling down on Oct 6th, after the school holidays. Still Homeland lost half it audience when they fast-tracked S2. This is new arc and a chance for people to return, but unlikely.

Seven is getting in first during the holidays with The Blacklist and AOS.

Nine??. BB is down to 670k last night and looking very bumpable.
