TEN confirms I’m a Celebrity, Get Me Out of Here!

Celebs and wanna-bes will be tested in the bush in the first local version of a reality franchise coming to TEN.

2014-09-07_0039TEN has confirmed a local version of I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here for 2015.

The series sees celebs (including some who only just make the grade) living together in the bush without luxuries, and facing extreme challenges designed to test them.

The UK version, filmed in Murwillumbah, has notched up 13 seasons now with hosts Ant & Dec.

The Australian edition by ITV Studios Australia has been pitched to local networks for some time now, but TEN has taken the bait.

Network Ten Chief Programming Officer, Beverley McGarvey, said: “I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! is a big, noisy and spectacular show for all the family and an incredible live reality television event.

“It will be a massive production, set in an amazing location in Africa. We cannot wait to get our celebrities in the jungle.

I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! is a smash hit in the UK, where its most recent season launched with 13.5 million viewers, making it the UK’s most watched entertainment show,” she said.

“We are very excited to be bringing I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! to Australians and we know Australians will be excited to have their own version of one of the funniest, most engaging and most interactive television shows in the world.”

ITV Studios Australia Managing Director, Anita Jacoby, said: “Network Ten is backing an international success story with I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!.

“After 13 huge seasons in the UK and eight massive seasons in Germany – and with both countries now gearing up for their next series – I’m a Celebrity is one of the longest-running, biggest and most successful formats in the world.”

TEN also recently confirmed Shark Tank for 2015.

  1. I think as long as they get people like the UK version, instead of the US version, it will be great. The UK version people are cordial and pleasant to start, The Americans come straight out of the gates fighting each other. Speaking of Americans, I wonder who the token American will be on this? C’mon, you know there’s going to be one. It’s almost mandatory on Aussie TV.

  2. It may work in the UK, but it won’t here. Yet another “cheap” program option that robs us of new, inovative drama. Such a boring TV landscape in Aus these days, with only a few exceptions. Aussie TV production is dying.
Bring back A Place To Call Home!!!!!

  3. Ch 10 needs a new well written drama. Aussie cop show fine, just as long as it’s top knotch and doesn’t involve Kate Ritchie or other recycled genre actors.

  4. I’m no reality TV fan, but the UK version of this show makes for brilliant TV,

I hope that Ten don’t shy away from controversial and eclectic celebrities though, and not just trot out the usual no-names. Some previous guests on the ITV show made for compelling viewing: John Lydon’s disappearance into the jungle for days on end springs to mind.

  5. I think this is a brilliant opportunity for TEN to invest in some new talent.

Luke and Wyatt are great together and my kids love them, but I also enjoy Scott Tweedie and Ash London on The Loop every Saturday morning. They have been chipping away quietly on that music show and I am surprised their talents haven’t been used elsewhere across the network. Scotty is also still a household favourite from Prank Patrol.

Hopefully the show works out for TEN – Ant and Dec are brilliant in the UK version, I think Australia needs some new faces to make the show their own for this to work… or we could just have Carrie Bickmore and Osher… again…
