ABC titles vie for Kid’s Emmy Awards

Dance Academy, Nowhere Boys and Heart & Soul all nominated at International Emmy Kids Awards.

2013-05-08_2231Three ABC shows have been nominated in the International Emmy Kids Awards.

Dance Academy, Nowhere Boys and Heart & Soul are the only Australian entrants for the top awards.

Dance Academy from Werner Film Productions and Nowhere Boys by Matchbox Pictures will both compete with nominees from Brazil and Spain for Best Series (could we hope for a tie?).

Heart & Soul by 1440 Productions, which follows the highs and lows of Geelong teen soul band Sweetheart, has been nominated in the Factual category.

Nominations span 17 countries: Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Colombia, France, Germany, Japan, Spain, Sweden, South Korea, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Pakistan and the United Kingdom.

“The geographic spread and the wealth of topics addressed in this year’s nominated programs attests to the vibrancy and quality of children’s television throughout the world.” said Bruce L. Paisner, President & CEO of the International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences. “The International Academy is proud to be the global platform for such a unique selection of international programming and we are looking forward to the third edition of these awards, in New York, on February 20, 2015.”

Winners will be announced on February 20, 2015 in New York.
