It’s not too often the UK decide to remake an American comedy (it’s always the other way round), but Drunk History is getting a British series with Comedy Central UK.
The format, which features comedians getting very drunk in order to tell a true historical story slurred word for slurred word, has been given an 8 episode approval.
Stars lined up for the UK version include Johnny Vegas, Ralf Little, Russell Kane, Joe Lycett, Russell Tovey, Rob Beckett, Alex Horne and James Acaster, while Jimmy Carr will provide the voice over.
The original version, which has screened in Australia on SBS, has featured such stars as Jack Black, Danny McBride, Will Ferrell, John C. Reilly and Zooey Deschanel.
“I’m excited that we have green-lit series production for Drunk History”, said Lourdes Diaz, Vice-President & Head of Global Production and Development for Comedy Central International. “I know our UK audience is going love it, after all, it combines two things the nation holds dear to its heart…drinking and history!”
The first season is expected to air in the UK in 2015.

This is a great show… How long before there is an Aussie version of it to screw it up???
I think I’d like to see Richard Starkey present one of these segments.
If only they’d gotten Jack Dee, Dylan Moran, Adrian Edmondson…
Sounds like ‘Horrible Histories’ with more booze…and swearing.
The UK excel in ‘ordinary looking’ actors and I reckon they will produce far funnier and down to earth drunks.
