Airdate: I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here!

A week ahead of the ratings season but up against the Australian Open Men's Final.

kaakTEN will launch I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here live on Sunday February 1st, a week ahead of the ratings season.

Julia Morris and Chris Brown are set to head to Africa tomorrow.

But while the ambitious show avoids going head to head with Seven’s My Kitchen Rules launch, it will be up against the Australian Open Men’s Final. TEN had better be hoping there are no Aussies in the final -that would be a disaster.

It is also likely to compete with The Block on its first night, which has a six day jump on the show. But TEN will be hoping the celebrity reveals will give them the upper hand.

Updated: Showbiz commentator Peter Ford has leaked Kerri-Anne Kennerley as one of the guests who will join the celebs.

Hosts Julia Morris and Chris Brown will be joined in the jungle by 10 celebrities, who will meet for the first time as they travel from their luxury South African accommodation into the basic outdoor camp which will become their new home.

Clues to each of the celebrities going into the jungle have already been revealed but from tonight, more clues will be released each day.

The eclectic group of celebrities are from all walks of life and includes a world famous television actress, an AFL superstar, a four-time Olympian, a legendary Test cricketer, an international model, a fashion icon, a hot young comedian, a television star, a Gold Logie nominee and a member of television royalty.

Taken out of their comfort zone, the celebrities will reveal themselves to the public as never before and are set to test their survival skills through daily tests and challenges.

A nightly, live soap opera where the viewers decide who eats, who plays and who stays, the 10 celebrities going into the jungle will be revealed live and exclusively in the first episode.

6:30pm Sunday February 1st and continues 7:30pm Monday-Thurs.

  1. @David – You mentioned that “Guests are unlikely to be night 1.” but the promos are saying that all will be revealed on night one.

What do you think? Not all celebs will be there on the first night? This doesn’t really follow the pattern of the show, though, some celebs have been known to go in later in the season.

  2. @Andrew – it got another 50k in consolidated ratings. TBL was also up against ODI and the ODI was 2/3 of Men’s Open Final. It is still 200k better then what TBL for the main part of the season was getting. The Formula 1 on the TEN Network gets 1.4m and it actually beats the news on 7 and 9
@mistaken – TBL premiere didn’t get 455k at all as it got at least 400k more then that. TBL premiered on Jan 19.

  3. I think the launch will do ok because people will want something else to watch other than boing old sport (I know I do!!!). Sports alternative + curiosity factor means that it probably won’t completely bomb out.

  4. William, The Biggest Loser premiere rated 455,000 against the men’s final last year. That doesn’t equate to your claim of ‘done really well’. It has been more than amusing watching the cattiness towards channel Ten by some television reporters, such as Peter Ford, in regard to their reluctance to release details. Well done Ten for keeping things under wraps. The ‘curiosity card’ is integral to this show’s success.

  5. William, you are making up stories regarding ratings.

The Australian Open Men’s Final last year rated 1.66m. The Biggest Loser on the same night rated 451,000. (OzTAM, 5 cities)

Channel 10 came 4th behind ABC in both primary channel and network shares that night.

FWIW, I hope Ten has a hit with I’m A Celebrity… but the massive build-up could be wasted going up against what is traditionally one of the biggest rating TV broadcasts of the year

  6. David, I know its pure speculation at this stage but do you think KAK is the tv royalty or the gold Logie nominee? I’m sure there’s valid arguments for both. Ten definitely have me intrigued about the cast. I hope this goes well.

  7. I have been informed that TBL got 500k up against The Open Final.

Pamela Anderson, Dipper, Steven Bradbury, Joel Creasy, Chrissie Swan, Fely Irvine, Symonds, Melissa Joan Hart and Laurina Fleure are all rumoured to be going to the jungle.

  8. As this is up against my “always watch” shows, I’ll give Celebrity a miss. They’ll probably repeat it on ELEVEN on a Saturday night and I’ll catch it then.

  9. Ten would have been better holding off until Monday night. They have the curiosity/new show factor going for them which would give them an edge over MKR/The Block. Instead, people will be able to check this out on Sunday and then switch back to MKR/The Block on Monday.

A launch is also critical to the success of the series, and going up against one of the biggest rating events of the year is not good either.

  10. Brendan Fevola or Warwick Capper for the AFL superstar. If is BF I hope he gets an unlimited supply of booze….

Where is Bert at the moment?

  11. Is Peter Ford always right? No he is not as he hasn’t simply got a clue this time around for I Am A Celebrity Get Me Outta Here since Ten keeping the names under wraps. Ten always had content up against Men’s Open Final and yet the network has done really well out of it. Even TBL 2014 got like 700k up against Men’s Open Final.

    1. Peter Ford is right far more than he is wrong, with excellent contacts and scoops. I have been wrong too, nobody is 100%. William your confident claim will warrant an apology if KAK appears anytime across the season. Guests are unlikely to be night 1.

  12. There’s more chance of me winning Lotto than an Aussie being in the final. Not sure going up against the Aus Open final is the smartest move and Ten better hope Aus don’t make the One Day International final. If the KAK rumour is true then that is an excellent get by Ten. She is very popular.

  13. Peter ford also told us this is you life would be on ten in 2015 and there was no mention of that in ten’s upfronts! But KAKA would be good for the show Kind of looking forward to this show. I suppose up against men’s final is the better option.

  14. Big mistake TEN. The Aussie Open Men’s final always delivers mammoth numbers for Seven, regardless of whether an Aussie is in it or not. It would be better off going up against MKR.

  15. TEN can rest easy. The chances of an Aussie making the mens Aus Open final would be about zero I’d say…
On the Big Bash last night they mentioned the cricketer going in has played 20 Tests, which means it’s Damien Fleming.

  16. Well Ten have shot themselves in the foot with the timing against the Australian Open Men’s Final. They would have been better off starting it on a Thursday or Friday when MKR doesn’t screen.
