Is Kate Hudson still a thing?
While Hollywood is a town that loves to self-congratulate it’s still hard to ignore a 72 year legacy.
IMO, the Golden Globes are over-rated. Only 90 journalist vote for the awards, meaning a nominee could get as little as 20 votes and win an award if a category is close. Compare this to the Oscars (6000) and SAG Awards (2100), which have more voters.
Having fewer voters makes it easier for for studios to lobby them. “The Tourist” was nominated for best musical/comedy film despite being a flop with the critics. There’s a suggestion Sony paid for the voters to go on a junket to Las Vegas to get their support.
I wish a free to air network wold pick up the rights to the Gobes & the SAGs esp since they have tv categories, even if it was on delay.
