US actor Edward Herrmann, best known for Gilmore Girls, has died aged 71.
He died in New York following a battle with brain cancer.
“Edward Herrmann, besides being an accomplished actor, was also a true gentleman and a scholar, as well as being an incredibly kind and decent man,” his agent Robbie Kass said. “He will be sorely missed.”
He played Lorelai Gilmore’s father Richard from 2000 – 2007.
Herrmann won an Emmy for his role in The Practice and appeared in Eleanor and Franklin, St. Elsewhere, Grey’s Anatomy, How I Met Your Mother, CSI, Harry’s Law, Law and Order, 30 Rock and recently appeared in several episodes of The Good Wife.
Film credits included The Paper Chase, The Great Gatsby, The Lost Boys, Richie Rich, Nixon, The Cat’s Meow, The Aviator and Annie.

Very sad news. As a teen in the 80’s I always remember him as the lead vampire in The Lost Boys, he was very scary
