The series really suffered after the departure of Karl Pilkington. I also think Ricky started milking the sentimental formula too much and it slid into mawkish territory.
Dave, unclick the Subtitles option on the video next to the cogwheel. YouTube was displaying the subtitles. Not Netflix.
Perhaps the captioning is simply so that the hearing-impaired can enjoy it? Should be more of it.
