11 Comments:

  1. Watched MKR on 7. Those two Mt. Isa ladies are so lovely and did a very good job, even with presentation of their food.
Recorded Shark Tank on 10 and watched straight after MKR.
Watched Cycling from Belgium until it finished 🙂

  2. I find these figures to be amazing.
What about the 200,000+ people who login to Netflix, and maybe just as many again, who use vpn’s to view programmes free from commercial overkill.
yet, the official ratings”tell us, 1. such and such million viewers have watched a certain programme.”
I feel these so called “ratings”are a con job, and, need to be revamped.

    • No con job. The numbers statistically represent what they purport to represent. Averages of 5 city metro audiences watching Free to Air broadcast television overnight. While we can all advocate for regional, catchup and streaming viewers to be added in (OzTAM claims to be working towards some of these), they are currently outside their remit. Quite frankly even Netflix would not be able to tell you how many are using VPNs to view their service. They have told me so.

      • Netflix will know precisely how many people are using the major VPN providers. They can’t tell precisely where they originated from though. They also know precisely how many are using OS credit cards. HBO has started blocking VPNs to stop people getting around geo-blocking. Netflix could too if they wanted to.

Netflix doesn’t want to admit to knowing because their suppliers are pressuring them to block them e.g. Sony in the contract that leaked after they were hacked.

      • Younger people watch streaming video a lot but older age groups still consume a lot of FTA TV. We do but we also use DVR units to have total freedom and not to miss out on programmes we love. So it is a balance , even for us older folks. Oztam corrected a few years back when streaming took off and today’s figures ( much lower than say 5 years ago) are low enough to make me believe they are close to the truth. 🙂 Also people have to remember we have digital multi-channels, so far more choice than years ago.

  3. bettestreep2008

They’ll keep doing this until the rules are changed.

How long was the reveal segment? 5 minutes?

I gave up on television last night at 7.30pm. Absolutely nothing worth watching IMO.

And in a few weeks we are going to be subjected to Masterchef, House Rules and Reno Rumble???

    Sheesh.

    • Try Shark Tank on 10 – very good program 🙂
Masterchef is our favourite by far. Much classier cooks and less drama queens. We watch it but MKR has gone on for too long this year.

      • I was alluding to the sneaky tactic of strategic coding by Nine.

And I agree about MKR dragging on for too long but so has The Block. Didn’t The Block start a day earlier than MKR? Both has dragged on for too long but there seem to be more people focusing on MKR alone.

  4. Initial reaction: “Wow! The Block beat My Kitchen Rules!”
Secondary reaction: “Ugh, they did that stupid separate coding thing.”
