Seven News reporter Adam Walters is joining TEN Eyewitness News as a Senior Reporter.

Walters, who won a Walkley Award in 2012, has more than 35 years experience as a journalist, including for Seven, Nine and as a political adviser to former NSW Premier, Morris Iemma.

He has covered stories including the murder of Anita Cobby, the North Shore “Granny Killer”, the 1989 Newcastle NSW earthquake, the Ivan Milat murders, the Port Arthur massacre, the 1997 Thredbo landslide, the arrest of the Bali Nine heroin smugglers, the 2004 Boxing Day tsunami and the 2009 Black Saturday bush fires in Victoria and reports that led to the resignation of NSW Police Minister, Carl Scully.

In 2012 he received a Walkley Award for reporting on the NSW Government allowing a monopoly on the sale of ethanol and in 2002 he shared a Logie and Walkley Award for coverage of the Bali bombings.

TEN Network News Director, John Choueifate, said: “I have worked with Adam for over 30 years and he has never let me down. He is a fearless, thorough journalist who has a reputation for breaking stories. He will be a welcome addition to TEN Eyewitness News First At Five.”

Walters takes up his role in July.

  1. Forgive me, but what is a SOPV?
Ten news needs a lot more than a new Journalist, Georgina Lewis giving “news updates” throughout the night that are hours out of date, is a very sad joke on news gatherers at ten.

    1. SOPV = Sex On Premises Venue.

I always thought it ironic that David Campbell’s replacement (as the Minister for Roads etc. after the next election) was Duncan Gay.
