CBS has confirmed CSI: Crime Scene Investigation will conclude with a two hour telemovie, bringing to an end a stellar 15 seasons.

William Petersen will return as Gil Grissom along with Marg Helgenberger. Meanwhile, Ted Danson will join CSI: Cyber as a series regular.

“It’s easy to forget this was one of the strongest, longest-running dramas in TV history and really important to the network,” CBS scheduling head Kelly Kahl said. “I’m really happy we can send it off in the right way.”

CSI ranked as the most-watched drama series in the world five times but recently lost its crown to NCIS.

Patricia Arquette’s CSI: Cyber will remain the sole edition of the long-running franchise, coming soon to TEN.

  1. 15 seasons is pretty amazing in the fickle world of entertainment! I’ll miss CSI – the original was the best! Loved the characters – they were all unique and a bit quirky. Glad to see Ted Danson will be switching to CSI Cyber. Hope we get that one soon!

  2. @rockgran it is the same in the USA… they always filter the new eps with old ones… as sometime (in most cases) the number of episodes ordered for a season my not be the same number of rating weeks… so as a season builds to a dramatic end they can make the new season last longer… its like this with all shows and all networks… even PAY Tv are sometimes forced to do it when the turn their shows around quickly… its just standard practice these days…as for moving it around time slots… they say to find an audience… but most of the time the audience get sick of chasing the program…

  3. I have always thought that Ted Danson rescued CSI from oblivion. The original guy was too dark and Marf Helenburg was not a strong enough actor. Very sorry to see that it is being axed. Can anyone tell why the FTA networks treat us with such contempt? Starting a new series then going in with repeats then back to the new episodes. After a while I lose track of the series and have to find other ways of watching it. Ie waiting for the DVD. Also why does channel nine change the airing time of these shows? I tune in for csi only to find they have moved it to a different spot. Think I really dislike FTA. Will Netflix and these new platforms have these great American series? Like Hawaii 5 0 , NCIS, LA etc? How do you find out?

  4. Top notch crime drama & am awaiting for the return of the remaining eps of S15. Good that Ted Danson is migrating to CSI:Cyber, he’s a quality actor & one of my favourites.
