Yep. Lee Lin Chin will be saying “Hello Vienna, this is Australia calling!” for SBS.

She was announced as the Australian Spokesperson for Eurovision on The Feed.

The role sees her delivering the Australian votes during the Final on Sunday, comprising 50% Audience vote and 50% Jury vote.

Delivering the votes in a brief window and making an impression is a tall order, but the inimitable Ms. Chin has character, style and a certain je nais se quoi. But is Europe ready for her?

“Since I’m announcing my candidacy for the 2016 Gold Logie, I’m very excited. 195 million people watch Eurovision every year and if even just 10 million of those buy TV Week I’ll have it in the bag. As SBS’s most recognisable personality I couldn’t say no to such an opportunity. I’m the obvious choice – not only have I been to Europe but I also listen to music from time to time,” she said.

Earlier this month TV Tonight asked Lee Lin Chin if she would accept the role if she was asked.

“I would consider it,” she said.

“I’m not overly familiar with the format. But if they ask me (I would do it)….”

Live 5am AEST Sunday May 24th SBS ONE.

  1. Guys – you don’t need to buy TV week to vote for the logies anymore. Thank god for that.
Just do what the networks do, hire a few thousand unemployed kids and get them to log on to the TV week website and vote for totally undeserving candidates.

That’s how we get Gold Logie nominees like Hamish Blake, Scott Cam and the awful Karl Stefanovic.

BTW – Lee Lin is so obviously gonna ramp up the cheesy factor when she announces on Sunday morning. She just has to make sure she tells Vienna they have done ‘magnificent’ job. That’ll get her a few more Austrian votes. I mean Australian….I mean…..Oh come on – we are in the contest because someone made a typo.

  2. I know she is only really joking about the gold logie… but seriously, we need to make that happen. At least a nomination next year!

  3. Excellent news! Despite what I said earlier, I would actually buy a TV Week if it meant that Ms Chin ended up winning the Gold Logie, altho’ I wouldn’t be able to bring myself to read it – one can only do so much.
