Nine Perth is set to relocate from Dianella to the CBD in 2016.

STW9 will relocate to 253 St George’s Terrace, with a fully digitised studio, an outdoor Nine Plaza, and a video wall on an adjacent Primewest site.

A 2,500 sqm campus-style layout across 3 buildings, including 255 St Georges Terrace, two levels in 267 St Georges Terrace, will house 130 staff.

David Mott, Managing Director of Nine Perth, said: “Since the change of ownership, Nine Perth has achieved growth in ratings and revenue and developed a solid community engagement.

“There is a renewed vibrancy in the Perth CBD and Nine Perth will become an important part of the ongoing regeneration of the city. The highly visible location will enhance our community involvement, with many events being held on-site, including opportunities for the public to meet the Channel Nine stars.

“The new location for Nine Perth is ideally positioned within close proximity to advertising agencies and key media buyers. All going to plan, we will be fully operational in St George’s Terrace in the third quarter of 2016. These are indeed exciting times for Nine Perth.”

Perth Lord Mayor Lisa Scaffidi said: “The move into the city by Channel Nine will breathe new life into the west end of the CBD. It is very exciting and will bring greater engagement for the Channel Nine audience. No doubt there will be some amazing events in this location in the future, bringing even more vitality to our city.”

Subject to the approval, construction is expected to commence in December.

  1. Getting in and out of the Perth CBD is very difficult these days-which is precisely what the state govt wants-traffic is horrendous and parking astronomical-public transport is very patchy-remember the ABC moved out of Adelaide Tce and into East Perth a few years ago.

  2. Good decision to push the STW9 studios to the CBD. This will be more exciting to see around the Perth city. Hopefully there might be some Bigger screen Plasma TVs covering the Complex.

  3. Good on 9, they’re really putting in the effort to engage Perth viewers since the sale to NEC. I’m glad to see a station in the heart of the city. It was really surprising when 7 didn’t opt for a move to the new Kings Square developments given they owned the land already, a missed opportunity if you ask me.

I wonder what will happen to WIN… I believe they still lease space in Dianella, a holdover from when they owned STW, but before that they were in the TEN offices I think.

    1. WIN was at NEW-10 due to infighting between STW9 Directors Bruce Gordon and Eva Presser. As soon as WIN got full control WIN-WA moved into STW9. They should still be able to lease facilities in the new building. Their WA playout is done from MediaHub in Sydney, I think.

      1. Yeah but I was wondering if they’d bother joining 9 in the city with its associated costs. WIN is nothing if not cheap. I was wondering more if they might move to some nondescript office in one of the light industry areas, e.g. Osborne Park (like 7) or Balcatta or something.

        1. Or back to NEW-10. Bruce Gordon does hold a substantial interest in TEN. There would be no benefit to WIN moving into the city, since their WA-territory is everywhere except in Perth. One would think they could certainly get more for less outside the CBD.
