  1. bettestreep2008

Well I didn’t predict this. Watched MC and once again enjoyed it for sticking to the food and the contestants.

And double bravo points for finishing at 9pm. Not sure what time the other shows finished but wouldn’t be surprised if they finished 15 or so minutes past schedule.

And I agree with others that Seven would be panicking the most. If that figure is the combined Seven/7mate/7two ratings – then HR is in trouble already.

Thoroughly deserved after dragging MKR over 6 months (promos back in October 2014) and then subjecting viewers with the HR promos for the past 3 months.

  2. “All these Renovation shows” House Rules is on 7 and only airs once a year! it is the Blocl that saturated the genre! I am happy 10 has done well. But it would seem “cooking” shows like MKR and MC seem to be more preferred at the moment. I like cooking just never watched any cooking shows like them!
I like renovations, but not the tripe 9 have been airing with challenges!!

    • 9 thrash all their shows to death and will pay the price very soon imho.
7 made a mistake with that show as the promos showed it as mushy trash full of over the top emotional stuff and fluff. Then the completed house still looked very average when the family returned. We hate all renovation shows but seven’s is the worst out of those two. Thank God for Masterchef right now. 🙂

  3. I hoped this would be the result but wasn’t expecting it. Good on you Ten. Great to see the other 2 punished for stupid simulcasting and for putting 2 reno shows against each other. Can’t remember the last time Ten won a night when all 3 networks all has their big guns on at once. 7 would have to be worried after the advertising they would have put into HR during MKR.

  4. Channel 7 will be very upset with HRs numbers. They have been flogging it to death promotions wise, and it rated quite poorly

  5. Well done Ten. Great episode of masterchef last night. Also good on you for not simulcasting. If they would only do that for FF.

  6. Well done MC. Although I watched Reno rumble I will catch MC hopefully on a reply . Channel 7 must be worried haven’t they filmed two series of house rules for this year … Early days but appears to have back fired on them … Maybe they will need to move to 9.30pm or something if ratings don’t improve?

  7. In the Simulcast Tuesday begins thread, I wondered if Nine would sacrifice the ratings they usually get on the multi-channels, probably lucky they didn’t for Poirot (222,000), or Agatha Christie’s Marple (200,000) as they got there usual Tuesday ratings, Have to wonder now though if Nine had of run The Big Bang Theory on GO! as usual with it’s usual 202,000 (with Top Gear after), would they have made up the 0.9 that TEN beat them by…guess we’ll never know (but I’m curious)

  8. How awesome for ten. So fantastic to watch a cooking show that’s actually about cooking. Brilliant food, some tears, some laughs and no bitching or backstabbing in sight. Such a positive show. George, Gary snd Matt are a great team. Pumped for season to continue.

  9. masterchef did well but still cant beat mkr… i dont understand! masterchef is a real cooking show while MKR is just dramas(it doesnt really teach you how to cook)….. masterchef deserves much more! but so far good job masterchef!

  10. So, David, the House Rules and Block ratings that you have above are the total of 3 channels and 2 channels combined? Or is the ratings for the other two/three channels not included in these ratings above?

  11. Just proves a point don’t change a winning formula. When something works stick to it. These reno shows have had their day and there are so many of them now.

    • Also think it makes sense to put a cooking show on in winter as its indoors. Who, especially in Melb (VIC) wants to do renos this time of year.

    • Yes good on Ten. Those numbers are staggering. Even look at Family Feud’s numbers and NCIS’s. Their YOY results are up before MC, so it bodes well

  12. We were on the Tramcar restaurant last night, so recorded the show but we are delighted that Ten had a huge night with our favourite program and that viewers are getting over the renovation programmes slowly but surely.
🙂 I feel it lifted my favourite NCIS a bit as well. Bonus for Ten as well, congratulations on re-invigorating our favourite cooking show. Lets hope most viewers stay now to send a message to 7 and 9 about reno shows.

  13. Welcome back Channel TEN. Congratulations. Fabulous production. Don’t kill the golden goose with repetitive reruns on TEN and ONE. Are we so desperate for “renovation” people that old contestants have to be recycled from another show of the same genre. Give me a break!

    • I watched Reno rumble last night and really enjoyed it and they picked likeable ones to come back. no fighting at all and only went for an hour,

    • I agree with the point on renovation shows, but I completely disagree about reruns. How does this hurt the audience? Or damage the show’s brand? It’s not like they’re taking away premium content. If you’ve seen it change channels. I find endless, repetitive promos for a show annoying – these you can’t avoid.

  14. I didn’t watch MasterChef, but I’m so happy to see Channel 10 coming out on top for a change. I was a bit shocked House Rules rated so poorly. I watched Reno Rumble, but expected to see it come 3rd in it’s time slot.

  15. After such a boring and predictable start to the ratings year everything has been turned on its head after the results from last night and isn’t it fantastic. Alarm bells are going off everywhere at Seven this morning. They’ll be hoping for a Season 1 like turnaround for HR or it is going to be a long couple of months.

  16. I am happy for Ten. I am more excited than ever to read ratings report every morning.

I thought House Rules would have done better than Reno Rumble so a bit surprised by the ratings (but of course, I can’t comment much as I didn’t watch Reno Rumbles).

    • Really? I thought Reno rumble would beat house rules ages ago, because it’s pretty much the same but with contestants that people have seen before and were likeable, only an hour ep and only goes for 6 weeks, were house rules goes to long and new constants take time to like

      • With “Renovation Reality Fatigue”, stating that Reno Rumble, only goes 6 weeks, you know when it will end, and you know how much of your time, will be “invested in it”

  17. I’m sorry for the language, but OMFG… Masterchef killed it… what an amazing night for Ten… Congratulations… amazing food, great contestants, and just a superior production!!! I am speechless right now!

    • Channel 7 will be in a very bad mood this morning… Channel Nine should be pleasantly surprised… Channel Ten has smashed it… Masterchef was amazing last night! Sorry for commenting twice but it’s exciting to see!

    • Secret Squïrrel

Agree, and in the “correct” order, too, given how many channels the show was on. Let’s hope that this puts an end to this ridiculous farce once and for all (*cough* Family *cough* Feud *cough*).

      • Masterchef is an established show.
FF is new with Grant Denier and he moved from 7 to 10 to reduce the pressure and stress he had on him.
So 2 reasons why they are settling the show in via 3 channels, so they don’t steal their own viewers during that time.
I think it was good to allow Grant to settle in and establish himself as a ratings winner for Ten, right from the start. Just look at the established shows he is beating. Congratulations Grant and 10, doing a smart and terrific job. I don’t want 10 to diapappear from FTA TV, so important they grow viewer numbers asap.

So far this year they are doing much better than the 1st third of 2014. 🙂
