Smash stars reunite for Bombshell in concert

Missing Smash?

This week cast members held a one-off charity concert of the songs written for Bombshell, the fake Marilyn Monroe musical.

Katharine McPhee, Megan Hilty, Debra Messing, Christian Borle, Will Chase, Jaime Cepero, Jeremy Jordan, Leslie Odom Jr. and more of the show’s cast reunited to perform songs including “Let Me Be Your Star,” “Don’t Forget Me,” “Cut, Print…Moving On” and “They Just Keep Moving the Line.

Looks like a hoot.

Washington Post said:

Hilty and McPhee, who played the actresses vying through gnashed teeth and tears for the role of Marilyn, carried the melodic brunt Monday night, accompanied by an onstage, 30-member orchestra. Hilty delivered sultry renditions of “The National Pastime” and the Act 1 finale, “They Just Keep Moving the Line,” while McPhee suavely handled “The 20th Century Fox Mambo.” Chase, who played the actor playing “Bombshell’s” Joe DiMaggio, at one time married to Monroe, joined Hilty in the romantic duet, “Mr. and Mrs. Smith,” while Jeremy Jordan, a cast member added in season two, opened the concert’s Act 2 with a powerhouse “Cut, Print…Moving On.”

Together, Hilty and McPhee sang the opening and closing numbers, “Let Me Be Your Star” and “Don’t Forget Me,” songs that conjured the strong female pairings in other musicals, such as “Dreamgirls” and “Side Show.”

Bombshell should be a “real” musical on Broadway and here in Aus. There are so many lame musicals on stage at the moment, something this great would destroy the competition! I loved it!
Will the concert be available to buy on DVD???

    • Most likely not. That’s what was being said before hand. I don’t know if it was recorded but actually having it professionally recorded & put on DVD was going to be too expensive for them so they didn’t do it

  2. Awesome! The fact broadway.com recorded it gives me some hope it will be released on DVD or shown on tv in the near future. That would be awesome. Now they need to do Hit List. I loved the music of that too! I really do miss Smash. Another great show gone too soon.
