X Factor host Luke Jacobz lost his licence for a year for drink driving, following a blood-alcohol reading of 0.116 in Sydney on May 31st.

Jacobz, real name is Luke Ashwood, was also fined $700 after pleading guilty to mid-range drink driving yesterday.

Magistrate Alexander Majovich noted it was his second offence after another incident a decade ago.

“The reality is I am dealing with a serial offender,” he said.

“You are playing Russian Roulette with your licence.”

Jacobz solicitor said he was sorry for getting behind the wheel and had more than seven hours’ sleep before picking up friends who had stayed in the city overnight for a hen’s party.

“He was certainly blown away by the idea he has blown a positive (alcohol reading),” solicitor Michael Bowe said.

“He is genuinely remorseful – it was a genuine mistake made by him at the time.”

AAP reports he commended Jacobz’s commitment to charity work but exempted him from completing a drink driving education course because of his busy international schedule.

  1. I am sick of these “celebrities” getting off stuff that would see most of us shown absolutely no mercy.

I lost my licence for speeding 7 years ago, when I advised the magistrate that it would impact my job as I worked shift work – he just grunted there are trains aren’t there? do the crime, do the time, which I did.

It seems the rules don’t apply to everyone as in this case, or:
An AFL football manager, sure? break champagne glasses and belt your girlfriend a few times – no problem.

An AFL player…. skies the limit! plenty of cases out there that people can find out about that were widely reported

  2. I think it’s the nature of working in a job where you have a public profile that your conduct (both personally and professionally) is going to be scrutinised.
I’m curious what his ‘international schedule’ entails, since he left Home and Away, I haven’t seen him in anything besides X-Factor.

    1. Why should he be exempt from being publicly named and shamed? Public humiliation applies to everyone. It’s part of the punishment. I have no sympathy whatsoever for anyone named for drink-driving offences.

    2. Well you certainly made it your business by reading and commenting on it. I think it is everyone’s business when someone puts other peoples lives at risk.
