  1. I found Glitch to be a blast of fresh air when ABC drama has become so predictable. It’s quite charming in it’s own way, and very well produced. However, the real audience will find this on iView and the figures will fall off a cliff over the next few weeks. The danger is that it will be assessed as a “flop” while the fourth outing of the soporific Dr. Blake is seen as a “hit”. The wrong conclusions will be drawn, leading to more risk aversion.

    1. Suspect any danger would be with individuals (whether public or media) only looking at broadcast numbers. ABC will be quick to remind them of iview performance as they did with Chris Lilley.

  2. Glitch-even the title is faintly absurd for the genre-many laughably bad moments-imagine how you’d react at seeing someone you knew well was dead suddenly standing before you-faint?, be reduced to hysteria? or just stand there pretty nonchalantly as the doctor says things like ‘Lazarus syndrome’ after 2 years?

  3. Well I must be weird, because I thought Glitch was really good. I liked it better than the recent French and US shows that covered similar themes. It managed to avoid the two things that keep Oz TV and film from reaching greatness, which is earnestness and melodrama.

My only criticism was the strong language, which felt out of context in what was a moody and creepy story.

I was also impressed with Patrick Brammall. I’ve only ever seen him play loud, dopey comic characters.

  4. I really didn’t like this at all and it’s certainly not must see. Answers my question as to why ABC put it on iview. It felt like everyone fell in love with the idea – even though it’s a rehash – then didn’t know how to tell the story. Everyone felt out of their depth.

ABC drama really needs to get it’s game on. A few too many misses of late – Hiding anyone?

    1. Surely it’s not as bad as Hiding? I’m watching Le Tour so was looking fwd to catching this on the Tue rest-day along with a few other programs I’ve missed this week. Now I’m wondering whether to see what the ratings are for ep 2 before deciding to give it a look.

      1. Nowhere near as bad as Hiding!

Good on ABC for commissioning, but I feel the natural home for these drama as for subscription (paytv or SVOD) , however in terms of Australian drama, that space is currently taken by the likes of A Place To Call Home

    2. Oh, I enjoyed it and thought it was really well done.
Not quite as good as The Returned but intriguing enough to look forward to watching the rest of the story.

      1. I agree, I thought it was pretty good but I don’t think it is anything near the quality of The Returned (French), That show really quite spooked me. I’ll definitely watch the rest of this. Thank goodness it’s not Hiding.
