ABC has launched a new ABC KIDS play app for iPads, with games featuring Play School, Giggle and Hoot and Bananas in Pyjamas.
Rebecca Heap, ABC TV Head of Strategy and Digital Products, said: “We are thrilled to offer our youngest audience an additional opportunity to learn, be creative and engage with their favourite ABC KIDS characters. Created specifically for, and tested by, our preschool audience, the app has a high production value throughout and is one parents and caregivers can trust to entertain and educate their children.”
The ABC KIDS play app invites children aged between 2-6 to explore, investigate, create and play with the huge variety on offer, from open-ended creative activities to imaginative games.
In addition, Zindzi Okenyo and Teo Gebert, two of Play School’s popular presenters, and Hoot and Hootabelle provide audio guidance allowing children to use it with little direction from their parent or caregiver.
Key features of the app include:
The Village – a world that brings all the games and brands together in one place. It is a playful interactive environment and acts as the main menu from which all other activities are accessed.
Games – In an ABC KIDS first, children can explore the world of Giggle and Hoot as well as play games and activities based on Play School and Bananas in Pyjamas. Games include making craft animals in the Play School workshop; exploring with Hoot and Hootabelle; or playing musical cushions with B1 and B2.
Grown Ups Section – this area provides content for parents and caregivers, including guidance on how to use the app, suggestions for co-play activities, insight into how the app was developed, as well as links to additional ABC products and customer service.
Offline Activities – printable PDF guides giving parents inspiration and instructions on how to recreate some of the craft activities featured in ABC KIDS play into real-world offline activities.
The ABC KIDS play app is free to download, free of advertising, and once installed, no internet connection is required to play.
The ABC KIDS play app is available for free on iPads from the App Store at http://ab.co/playm. Also coming soon to Android.
The ABC KIDS play app is the latest addition to the ABC Children’s comprehensive hugely popular offering.
