Nine News is claiming victory after now securing 21 national weekly wins in the ratings year.

Seven News has 2 weeks.

It follows Nine recently securing 21 weeks in Sydney and Melbourne, with Brisbane now also securing 21 weeks. Seven recently secured the same 21 weeks in Adelaide and Perth.

Darren Wick, Nine’s Director of News and Current Affairs, said: “We are privileged that Australian audiences continue to turn to Nine News as their first choice for breaking news, information and engaging stories. We are committed to working even harder to maintain their trust and loyalty. This country deserves the best, up-to-the-minute news, and Nine is committed to bringing that to every family, every home, every person, every day.”

  1. What a monumental mistake it was to replace the very popular Rod Young and Kay McGrath who had a very comfortable lead in Brisbane. As for Sydney, the gap has blown out in Sydney with the unpopular Mark Ferguson at the desk. With Seven Sydney’s best newsreader, Chris Bath, jumping a sinking ship, there’s little hope for Seven to get anywhere near Nine.

    1. I think with those words “popular” and “unpopular” you’ve hit on the reason why commercial TV news lacks credibility and integrity. The networks have turned these shows into popularity contests in which the autocue readers are heavily marketed and have become much more important than the content that they are presenting, so much so that the ‘news’ stories have become mere supporting acts, stories made to the same old templates and using the same old clichés recited by seemingly cloned reporters. Besides, who’s actually watching? When I leave work around 6pm, the roads are packed with traffic!
